when i first went to pattaya in 1991 there was a beer bar called "lynnard skynnard" and they played classic 70s rock- incl. "sweet home alabama" etc. - i don't find myself feeling motivated (or sanukified) listening to disco/ techno- i know TQ in pattaya can still play some, but i don't take to the redesigned TQ gogo off walking street- when was it redesigned?- remember the old atmoshere?-the stage now is strangely truncated- and it seems there;s a red brick like decor along the extended bar area- this is the strong point of a bar like Roadhouse in angeles- perhaps there;s "Tims GoGo" in pattaya but i've not stayed there for a long time- in a beer bar down a soi across from Tims, the bar girls and me and a danish guy were drinkin whisky- he puts on skunk anansie, and it sounds brilliant- we're into it, but the bar girls soon had skunk a. substituted- apart from Tims, or TQ, any other places- especially in BKK?

i wuz just a kid, throwin it all away.....

Try METAL ZONE Suan Luang Rd. in BKK.

Everyday Heavy-Metal and Rock and great...

really great Bands playing there.

Great club, nice athmosphere.

Try in Pattaya Gogo Hawaiian Lady, Beach Rd.

crowded with dancers and Rockmusic.

Keep rockin' on mad.gif" border="0

Here are some good gogo bars that stay away from the disco/techno dreck in favor of R&R. They are in Bangkok only.

NEP: Titty Twister, DC-10

CEP: Rock Hard

Patpong: Goldfinger, Superstar

The DJs are outstanding in these bars. If they aren't playing what you want to hear, just mention what you would like. Often, they have it available and will put it on for you. They will even sprint out of the bar and return with the CD containing the song you want to hear on occasion. If they do this, it is a good idea to buy the DJ a drink. This is an especially good move if you plan on frequenting the bar often.

Of course, I always find one of the funniest things I have seen is when the DJ will play 'Stairway to Heaven' and then watch the gogo dancers' reaction. It is like they have gone into slow motion (OK, slower than the Buffalo Shuffle).

I think it's Hollywood Bar in NEP that also plays R'n'R. The one with the famed live shows with all manner of flora and fauna. I was the worse for wear when I went, but I think its Hollywood

thanx 2L1- i used to end up in champion coz it was the last one still going and draught beer was (is?) HH 55 or less- by then, head in arms, eyes peering over the bridge of my folded arms, i'd try and focus on the girls' boots- at my eye level- interestingly, i don't recall the girls trying to workme out of this comotoze state- in angeles, they'd start pickin over your ear drums!- i recall the porn videos in champion too- do they still play - sometimes i'd be staring at the action on screen, eyes glazed over- Oh! God, how sad!- one champion dancer used to work up a lil bit of a show, perhaps on my account- then later, sometime later, i saw her outside of orchard towers in singapore- and the odd thing, i'd áve lost an arm for her in pattaya, if only she'd actually said hi, instead of tryin to get my attention through her antics- whereas in Singapore, although i was almost equally drunk, i just looked upon her with soem kinda wry amusement- i suppose, it seemed odd to ne that singapore and bkk were so close to each other!!

champion (as they say in yorkshire)

Yes there are mostly only crazy farangs and

Sinos there. Take a lady with you.

But ask her first if she like Metal Music!!!

And then lets go...

Open daily from 10.p.m. till 01.a.m only.

Its a great place.

I had to chuckle a bit when I read the typo in this thread: MENTAL Zone.

Great name for a bar in Bangkok, no?

Of course it is Metal Zone. I went there once and you will not find any ladies to pick up. Also, you might want to bring a long a set of earplugs if you don't want to suffer hearing loss after a night here. The bands really crank it up.

And, by the way, if you ask the taxi driver to take you to Suan Luang, you will end up... somewhere, but not anywhere near Metal Zone.

Try Soi Lang Suan instead across from the Thai Farmers Bank about 300 meters from, ta -da, Soi Sarasin and Lumpini Park.
