wonderlust
These AirCards are priced around 15,000 baht aren't they? If so, why not just buy an extra mobile that supports EDGE? It would work out cheaper. Also has anyone seen a USB modem that supports EDGE on sale in Thailand? I'd like to use EDGE with my desktop PC and this would be difficult with an AirCard. Mekong
OK I will show my colours A lot of my time is spent in Oil and Gas Refineries, I can't take my cell phone in there with me, an aircard in the PCMCIA slot is overlooked. Horses for course.
Maco88
This was being discussed a few months ago Here A couple of speed test results in that thread from BKK, 5 months since I changed to True Hi-Speed (3072 / 512 Package) still hitting 2500K + Download at all times of day. Thats quite an impressive speed at all times of the day. You hear so much negative feedback about True, maybe they've improved in recent times??? khunsanuk
Hi, I'm quite happy with True again as well. Had a serious problem for about 2 months; techies came round to my house about 6-7 times, but they *did* fix it in the end (by moving a cable somewhere outside). And since they fixed it I am getting very good speeds. It's not at all uncommon to be downloading torrents at 90-100Kbyte/s. Sanuk!
Paillote
I often hit close to the 200KB/s mark with torrents on Buddy. No daytime capping as was with LoxInfo either. Paillote
Maco88
Mekong/ KS, Are there any download limits with True or is it unlimited??. I am on the Hi-Speed 2507kb/s speed, but thinking of getting UBC & moving up to the 3MB Super Hi-Speed.
Mekong
Unlimited
khunsanuk
Hi, As Mekong said, unlimited. I probably download about 10-20Gb / month and have never noticed any restrictions. True also seems to be very fast lately. If I have enough torrents going I can easily have consistent speeds of 90Kb+/s (on a 1Mbit connection). Sanuk! Paillote
Really fast? You have been in Thailand to long I go home regularly, and 15Mbps to 30Mbps is readily available, and really cheap. 1Mbps is not even on offer. Mekong
I remember circa 98-99 when a 20 hour dial up package with Loxinfo was 1,000 THB, alledgedly 56K but more like 28K if lucky. Then in 2000 TOT offered free dial up if you had phone account with them and it used to disconnect every 2 hours. Admittedly Thailand is far behind most countries WRT to data transfer speeds and cost but compared to 10 years ago it is bloody luxury now.
