OCgringo
if he is found by the Cival Air patrol alive there will be a party , Fossett is on of them , a pilot so they would go looking for him without a thought about cost, Same as mountain climbers that get lost ! Problem with landing in the desert is that very little of it is hard surface , mostly sand and dirt, great if you can find an old road , but not many paved ones out there, The first report was that he was scouting a flat place for a land speed record , so I would think he was flying pretty low. where things happen fast I hope the best but its 2 days now with no contact OC
STFORME
The Bellanca Citabria he was flying has a real low stall speed and also being a tail dragger, can land safely in some pretty bad areas. Even saw a picture once of one that landed in the top of some trees. But as you said, 2 days and no word yet-no very promising.
spirit_of_town_hall
I hope there is a happy ending to this story although the longer the less likely this will be the case. I admire Steve for his spirit of adventure and the fact he beat self publicist Branson. STH
Hugh_Hoy
My understanding is that he and Branson were buddies...that Branson had, at least, partially financed some of Fossett's adventures. HH

OCgringo
The Search has been called off, I was hoping he would show up like an old Western movie walking out of the desert, Looks like thats not going to happen OC
FreeTime
There is a bit of good news to come out of this unfortunate incident. While searching for his plane, many other downed aircraft sites were found. The unrecorded ones will be investigated and may bring some closure elsewhere.
