Khun_Kong
I believe it's the word "gyp" that is the perjorative. Based on gypsies being thieves. Gypsy itself is not the same as wop/kike/Thai/nigger etc.

preahko
Hi' date=' Is there a Thai word for Gipsy, if there is how do you pronounce it. Thanks STH[/quote'] um, I don't know, but the ENGLISH word you want is Romany. Gipsy is like when you say wop, kike, mick, frog to refer to Italians, Jews, Irish, French, etc... preahko You are wrong I am afraid. Gipsies refer to themselves as gipsies. They even have a world council of gipsies. Go and live on a travellers site or near to one with the lovely romany folk and you wont worry about what they are called I promise. STH Oooooh, I see...so they're one of those ethnic groups who *deserve* the racist epithets directed at them. I see. Gotcha, Einstein. preahko
The_Munchmaster
Pikey Pikey is a pejorative slang term used in the United Kingdom, used originally to refer to Irish travellers. "Oh, you bastard! I fuckin' hate pikeys!"

simie
Preahko, I've never heard the term Gypsey refered to as rascist before? In the UK the term Munchie mentioned "pikey" would be used if you wished to use a derogatory/rascist term. When I was younger in south London you would often see signs on pub doors saying, "No dogs" "No travellers". This is now illegal (the "No travellers" part of course) Simie.
