The new world order that threatens Uncle Sam

Blame JFK for Vietnam. The Eisenhower Doctrine regarded all of former French Indo-China as bound to fall under communist domination sooner or later. The non-communist governments in South VN, Laos and Cambodia were simply too inefficient and corrupt to resist the might of Hanoi. They were the real "dominoes" and when one went, the next was going to go too (as did happen in 1975). Ike supported the generals in Thailand, aiming to stop the reds at the Mekong (which really worked). However, JFK when he became Prez decided that he could "save" SVN. The only reason I can figure is because he and Diem were both RCs. And LBJ felt honour bound to continue the support, saying he "didn't want no Din Bin Foo".

I thought the rot in Vietnam started when Ho Chi Minh after working for the OSS against the Japanese on the promise of indpendence after WW2 was refused by Truman and the French were allowed back into Vietnam to recolonize.

Looks like you can add Gaddafty to the list of dictators the USA has misguidedly supported under Bush. His pet poodle Blair was in on the deal too... breaking news..

Libya: Gaddafi regime's US-UK spy links revealed

US and UK spy agencies built close ties with their Libyan counterparts during the so-called War on Terror, according to documents discovered at the office of Col Gaddafi's former spy chief.

The papers suggest the CIA abducted several suspected militants from 2002 to 2004 and handed them to Tripoli.

The UK's MI6 also apparently gave the Gaddafi regime details of dissidents.

China will take the role of the new USSR

India will take the role of America and counter China globally

America wil be the new UK, once the greater one but now playng a role as a mediator, facilitator and back channel communicator between the two (along with...the UK). Basically, America will do what Engand has been doing diplomatically.

A very perceptive OSS officer described HCM in 1945 as a fantastic actor. Whenever he met with foreigners, he would be exactly what they wanted. He denied being a communist to OSS agents and said he was America's friend; he told the Soviets and Mao that he was a Marxist.

Roosevelt was dead set against allowing the French to return to their Indo-China colony, even to the extent that he cut off military aid to the French forces interned there during the war when the Japanese suddenly decided to eliminate them. (They were virtually exterminated.) But the French were damned and determined to get their empire back. They pressured the new President Truman into allowing them to return, just as they pressured him to grant the French a big hunk of the American occupation zone of Germany for themselves to rule (and pretend they had won the war rather than surrendered).

The Brits actually occupied Vietnam in late 1945, holding it for the French. The events then became most bizarre. The Viet Minh attacked the Brits, and the outnumbered Brits rearmed the Japanese troops to fight as their allies. (And most of the British troops were Indians - British colonials fighting to deny a French colony its independence!) The French finally managed to send some troops to reclaim Indo-China, but quit and went home after losing one battle - Dien Bien Phu. Meanwhile, the communists were killing off the non-communist nationalist leaders and preparing for a glorious People's Republic. HCM also stated that it was Hanoi's destiny to rule Ind-China. Hanoi's old men still seem to feel that way and Lao refugees will tell you their country is more or less a colony of Vietnam. The majority of the Lao commie leaders are of Vietnamese or part Vietnamese ancestry.

Crikey.. bizarre indeed. I maintain a file on my desktop named "Hypocrisy" where I add snippets of human folly. Thanks, FM, a couple more paragraphs to add to it.

What a rotten world it is out there, with politicians and nations playing power games. Wouldn't it wonderful if world leaders actually made "Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness" their top priority. That's why I like Wikileaks so much .. a breath of fresh air to hear the truth rather than BS.
