chuckwoww
Seem to be several sides to this story...as usual... Thai officer says Canadian was shot in scuffle Gwendolyn Richards , Calgary Herald Published: Wednesday, January 09, 2008 CALGARY - A Thai police officer accused of murdering a Calgary man says the fatal shots were fired as the officer fell during a struggle with Leo Del Pinto. On Wednesday, Sgt. Maj. Uthai Dechawiwat told the Calgary Herald that Del Pinto and his friend, Carly Reisig, hit and pushed the officer after he was asked to intervene in a fight they were having early Sunday morning in the northern Thai town of Pai. He said the pair pushed him into a motorcycle and, as the off-duty officer fell, his gun came loose from his holster. He said he and Del Pinto struggled for the gun and, as he wrenched it from the Calgary man's hands, the officer fell backwards and the three shots that killed Del Pinto and wounded Reisig were fired. That's a vastly different picture than Reisig has painted. http://www.canada.com/topics/news/national/story.html?id=b8f9b0db-bce5-43cb-b6bf-da4f321afd67&k=36551

Flashermac
This must be doing wonders for tourism, combined with the "frogman attack" in Phuket. Welcome to the Land of Smiles ... and don't forget your body armour.
shygye
Link Damning new evidence has emerged in the case of two Canadians shot by a policeman in the northern town of Pai last month after two eye-witnesses to the drama sought protection from the National Human Rights Commission. The witnesses, a young man and woman from Chiang Mai, told the NHRC they were scared to give evidence to police in the North, so the commission helped them gave their account of the fatal shooting to officers from the Department of Special Investigation (DSI) in Bangkok. The witnesses, who identities were not revealed, told the DSI Sgt Uthai Dechawiwat had intervened while Carly Reisig was fighting her Thai boyfriend. The officer kicked Reisig, then hit her with his pistol, but she pushed it away, and he shot her in the chest. He then shot her friend Leo Del Pinto, 24, twice. They claimed del Pinto had his hands in the air and was yelling at the officer to "Stop! Stop!" They said Sgt Uthai was drunk.

Central Scrutinizer
There is no way he shot 2 people by accident. 1 maybe, 2, very suspicious. Although this Canadian woman seems like trouble and has a past with the CM Thai police.

Central Scrutinizer
I wonder if this is a Thai couple, or farang?
Old Hippie
Witnesses, from what I gather are Thais "...from Chaing Mai..." The autopsy should show the angle the shots were fired from, and possibly where the man's hands were etc...I doubt anything resembling the truth will come out of this.
