Flashermac
How about a special section for smokers outside the plane?

Mekong
Also if you were to check out the WHO Statistics it is not "A Few" as you put it. 46% of European Males is not exactly a minority group!

Stan Smith
The smoking ban was enforced owing to one reason; money. It costs a hell of a lot more to run air con in a smoking plane, then it does on a non smoking plane. On a smoking plane, the air has to be cleaned and filtered before it is circulated again. A non smoking plane just throws around the same air without the need for expensive filtering. It was actualy more healthy to sit on a smoking plane. At least new fresh air was pumped in cycle. Now, its the same air that everyone breathes. hence the reason so many of us suffer mild colds and sore throats, post flight.
Guest lazyphil
thats interesting. maybe run the A/C and charge anyone whos obese extra to cover the extra fuel used. everyone breathes cleaner air and can have their smokes. everyone wins! It has nothing to do with smoking or nonsmoking. The reason for the sore throats etc is because the air is very dry.
Barry
Also if you were to check out the WHO Statistics it is not "A Few" as you put it. 46% of European Males is not exactly a minority group! But on the plane, you only need one and everyone has to suffer.. It's like when a bus passenger takes one deep puff before getting on, then exhales in the bus. Everyone else has to smell it. Sorry, but the only excuse anyone can have for starting smoking in the last 30 odd years is youthful stupidity. Any other reason is just stupidity.
