Hugh_Hoy
Okay, let's hear all about it. Friday's meeting was at Old Dutch, right? Who showed up? Start/ending times. Where did you guys meet inside? Critique the food and what were the food/beverage prices? (I haven't been in there in about 3 years.) HH

CTO
Funniest thing all night was watching Nervous Dog get asked to leave After Skool for trying to light a cigarette, I kid you not, the girls even laughed, saying "You go outside to smoke, or we smoke you over there" Good thing was people I haven't seen on a Friday dropped in for once, confirming because it was closer to Cowboy. 9 people, I think if we had more, and sometimes we have had up to 20, then it would get pretty hard for us to be in same area of the restaurant. Up stairs is a mess, but viable, however we'd have to make sure we kept a waiter . Drinks more expensive than Gullivers or the rest of the Soi, a small beer 110 baht, however they had tall beer chang for 140. With 9 people, everyone ordered something different, however I think the food was average, we all had different things, fish and chips 200 baht I think, smaller serve than Gullivers, as much as I dislike Gullivers, there serves where generous I think (NOT advocating a return to there) The likes of SD and DumbCunt with their fancy restaurants would find the food quite a bit below their usual standards It IS a restaurant, which worked last night as we all sat and ordered, quite fun actually, however if someone or a majority not eating I am not sure how the place would react. Seperate bills NOT a problem (it is in some places, point to remember for next week) All in all, great location, however I think we need more suggestions of places in the area if Down Under as some say is smaller than Old Dutch. I'm not convinced it's the right venue, but also think nothing wrong with a "Moving Feast" until we find the right place. I was a firm believer this would be a good venue till last night, now I am off this as a venue, talking is one thing, sitting down on a Friday with a bunch of us iss another! I think Ship Inn, which I eat at a few times a week could be a alternative, however no happy hour there either. I'd love a place with a happy hour
CTO
OH - one thing that was clear last night, having it close to Cowboy DID bring back the old "Convention" feel of going out afterwards, wherever we choose, it has to be in a area or it won't work. khunsanuk
Hi, Agree with CTO. Food was decent, but not great. Not much Dutch food left on the menu, and some of that was awful. Pom Michael had some 'bitterballen' and offered me one to try. I put it away after one bite, 'disgusting' and 'disgraceful' came to mind. As CTO mentioned prices were more expensive as well (Soft drinks: 55 Baht vs 40 at Gulliver's), but I don't think the prices were too high. Not certain the restaurant setting works well. Some of us (well, one mainly ) got a bit rowdy/loud and I got the impression that didn't go over too well with the other patrons. Also, any more than say 8 people will make seating difficult. I did like being close to the MRTA as it made my trip home a lot shorter. Oh, those attending were: CTO Pom Michael (and a friend who doesn't read Thai360) WorldFun Specialist Frostback JayC KhunSanuk S. (sorry forgot your board handle) joined us towards the end of the meeting. Sanuk!
Hugh_Hoy
Nice summary. Too bad the old beer garden across the street is gone.
Bar4
What about the Love Scene (gotta love the name) just down the road and opposite the Down Under. Good food and decent prices from memory (but I am usually there at 3am so don't hold me to that). Small entrance but more than enough room out the back - and there is a decent upstairs as well. Just a thought.
CTO
Beer Garden would have been perfect and it was a venue that used to be used by another group.
The_Munchmaster
....I think Ship Inn, which I eat at a few times a week could be a alternative, however no happy hour there either. Ship in is tiny and if I remember correctly has seating for about 8.
MooNoi
Ship in is tiny and if I remember correctly has seating for about 8. Or 4 board members...
