Flashermac
Clinton scolds Obama, aims to rescue White House bid White House hopeful Hillary Clinton launched a scathing attack on Democratic rival Barack Obama Saturday in a bid to restore her front-runner status ahead of key nominating contests next month. After a day of denying that a series of 11 straight losses to Obama left her campaign teetering on the edge of defeat, Clinton changed to a sharper tone and went on the offensive. [color:red]"Shame on you, Barack Obama,"[/color] Clinton said during a campaign rally in Ohio, which along with the southern state of Texas holds key Democratic nominating contests on March 4. "It is time you ran a campaign consistent with your messages in public. That's what I expect from you. Meet me in Ohio. Let's have a debate about your tactics and your behavior in this campaign." The 60-year-old New York senator -- who accused the Obama campaign of sending out misleading policy mailings about health care and free trade -- and the 46-year-old Illinois senator are to meet for a final televised debate on Tuesday in Cleveland, Ohio. ... Obama's campaign accused Clinton of engaging in negative attacks and stood by the statements in its campaign flyers. "Everything in those mailers is completely accurate, unlike the discredited attacks from Hillary Clinton's negative campaign that have been rejected in South Carolina, Wisconsin, and across America," Obama spokesman Bill Burton said. The football season is restricted to one thread so why not the american elections, after all they last about as long as a football season.

Steve
After watching Arsenal's result on Saturday, American pollitics seem a welcome change. Completely understand non Americans disinterest. The elections do have global repurcussions though. As for the topic, Clinton has to do something. Its the sign of a last gasp. I think she has a fairly good chance of winning Ohio, even the lead is shrinking. If it was later than March 4th I'd probably write her off in that state but the lead may just stay there, shrinking as it is, in time for the vote. Texas is a different matter. The lead has eroded and we may see Obama with a slight but statistically insignificant lead going into the vote. The worry for her is that if Obama leads in the polls, however slight, it will make news and some undecideds will go with Obama because Americans love to come to work and say they voted for the winner (except when its a Republican in a liberal state like California). The Democrat leadership may be wise to jump on the Obama bandwagon since he has two areas that will be crucial come the national vote. First is Obama being able to energize the base, the young and first time voters, (okay that's three) and second his abilith to get the centrists and independents. Its the center that chooses the president in close votes. Sometimes as much as 20 percent or more of the electorate. Win the lions share and its a done deal. Registered dems and repubs will almost always vote the party.
Old Hippie
Poor OLD Hillary...the bitch needs to wake up and realize no one wants her...not even Bill...well, maybe he was first? The bottom line is, a growing number of people don't like her or want her for president. On a sad/side note, rumor is Ralph Nader is supposedly thinking of running again... can you say "republican plant?"
