The ferry to Penang is about one hour i think. I did it many years ago. By bus you are faster. But always important is: If you are intend to take the train, buy your train ticket early! Flashermac Posted November 10, 2008 Report Share Posted November 10, 2008 Nah, the ferry ride is shorter than that. I remember wishing it would have lasted longer. The only disadvantage in flying to Penang is that you land on the island and miss the ferry ride. It's like a trip to the past. First time I did it, the RAAF were still in Malaysia.
