Old Hippie
She called to say she is back in BKK now, headed to her home in Surin. She wants nothing from the guy.
shygye
The marriage lasted for less than a year with no children. The courts won't award much of anything in this case.

Old Hippie
As I said, she does not want anything. She returned the laptop, the Iphone, the rings etc...she even left the clothes and shoes he bought for her, she took home what she came with. Realistically, she could get a few bucks I suppose, but not much. I seem to recall, maybe $2500 or so. This is from a Thai girl I knew in SFO who left after 6 months of marrage, the INS decided she was entitled to a plane ticket home, and some pocket money. jonjon058
How did she come to the US? If she came on K1 marriage visa, then the guy signed documents agreeing to support her while she remains in the US regardless of whether they divorce. He got lucky that she didn't play that card. Old Hippie
Yes, she was married to him. And yes, he did sign such papers, and yes, he is lucky, so is she.
shygye
I think she panicked. She should have stayed in the USA, gotten a green card, and in a couple of years PR status. Her visa status is now crap.
Bangkoktraveler
They are still married so it is not all over for her. If they decide to get back together, she should document(hopefully videotape) his outbursts. She should try to get her name on his checking account and whatever credit cards she can get her hands on to. If he acts up, she should call the police and have his ass hauled away on a domestic assult charge. If she plays her cards right, he doesn't get to come home. Once she is divorced, along with a nice setlement, the INS will make sure he still supports her. What the hell is the matter with me?
shygye
Her USA visa status does not allow her to leave and enter the USA as she pleases. She violated the terms of the visa, so she is SOL getting a new visa.
