Pom Michael
Nuay - tired. Never heared Muay to mean anything - normally I hear it as A-Muay - to mean the girl with the Chinese looking eyes.

khunsanuk
Hi, Nuay is tired, agreed. Muay is different and I just confirmed with one of our staff that my translation of it is accurate. (Could this be a case of transliteration problems? My 'muay' is pronounced like 'nuay', not like 'Muay Thai'.) Sanuk!

samak
à ¸¡à ¸§à ¸¢ (muay) boxing à ¹?à ¸¡à ¸·à ¹?à ¸Âà ¸¢ (mueai) stiff (of muscles) but it's both not what the open poster meant; it starts with a "h" à ¸«à ¸¡à ¸§à ¸¢ (muay, rising tone) ; as said: it means actually "younger sister" in Taechew (a southern chinese dialect). used for "chinese looking" for example order a girl to the papasan in a MP or Karaoke: khaow, suay, muay, uem! white, chinese looking beauty with big tits! Encore
My understanding is that the Thai 'Nuai' in Lao becomes 'Muai' The starting with an 'h' maybe the indicator for treating the 'm' as a high class consonant. But that would make it Thai rather then Lao... Maybe Samak is right after all. "khaow, suay, muay, uem! white, chinese looking beauty with big tits!" It sounds like this is a very familiar phrase for you......
Boo Radley
There's also the Thai song à ¸«à ¸¡à ¸§à ¸¢à ¸?à ¸µà ¹?à ¸?à ¹?à ¸° (I am a Chinese girl) by China Dolls from a few years ago which uses the word à ¸«à ¸¡à ¸§à ¸¢ a lot: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2FpfF12Dbgo
