gobbledonk
dirt dust Kangaroos and snakes could not wait to move to the big smoke. Its all relative - after 3 days in Vientiane, Nong Khai looked like New York City, shimmering across the water and beckoning to us. I thought my travelling companion was going to get out and kiss the ground when we made it to the other side of that bloody (Aussie-funded) 'Friendship' bridge. She still prods me with the occasional 'you go Lao tonight ?' .... That said, I know blokes who love the desert. Strange, sad little men, and they have my pity.
