Old Hippie
A good camera is like a good bottle of wine, many cheaper versions will do the job, but the enjoyment of handling beauty, is inestimable. Cheers Coss Same could be said for whores!
Coss
Yes, my point precisely.
Stickman
I've got a 20D. The 40D is a heck of a camera. I thought long and hard about the 50D but am going to go all the way and get the 5D II. Went and put my name down for it yesterday. They hope to have it by the end of this month....here's hoping! The_Munchmaster
5D MkII, should be a great camera. I've heard a few grumbles though about the fact that it can record video. You should wait until it's been on the market for a few months as the price will drop significantly.
Coss
Transpires my Visa card, even if verified by Visa is not good enough for the Prestige Camera people. No offence to my American friends as I know you're all lovely people, but some times America's paranoia about people who live in countries more than two feet outside of the USA, is ridiculous. Any hoo, my money is not good enough for them. but there're more shops who'll take my money. Cheers Coss
Barry
I found that buying on ebay from Japan or Hong Kong is cheap and reliable. Only from merchants with plenty of good feedback. I got myself a Lumix FZ18 superzoom compact (which has everything, but those who are serious would probably say it was shit), and I'm thinking of getting a Lumix G1 - the mini SLR. Stickman
I hope you managed to get your order in the system before today because I see that the NZD and AUD just crashed against the USD by 8% today. Yes, a whopping 8% fall in one day.
Coss
Ended up using e-tech-direct as the ones in America that were really cheap won't ship outside the Continental USA (we are evil). And the ones that would, were more expensive, shipping was high and e-tech-direct were then an option. Cheers Coss
Coss
Ahem, a rip off warning, do not use http://www.e-tech-direct.com Long story short, I've just received my reversal of charges from Visa, after the lovely folk at http://www.e-tech-direct.com took my money and then lost the ability to respond to emails and phone calls. And yet their site still notes my orders as paid awaiting shipping! Maybe they'll screw up and send the order any way, one day. Any hoo, I ended up getting the D300 & c locally, paying a bit extra. Lovely camera, extensive menus and settings, and great photos. Cheers Coss
