Heim_Hung
Hello, I'm planning to retire in Bangkok within 14 months! If you rent an apartment, how does the management charge water and electricl usage per month? Does each apartment has an individual water and electrical meter like in USA? Thanks
khunsanuk
Hi, I think that most common is that the management charges you at their rates, which are usually about twice the government rates. There will be individual meters, but you may not have access to them yourself. Sanuk!
Guest lazyphil
fuck that!!....i check and submit readings online for my gas, electric and water every month......mind you the fuckers still charge too much i bet!
Julian2
Water's not too expensive, 200-300B a month. Electric can be high, particularly with aircon. With no aircon, only fans, I keep it below 2000B. As KS says, if the bill goes to the landlord expect surcharges.
Faustian
Water about the same here and I take several showers a day. Electric is high, can be 3,500 baht a month for my small rented condo. My aircon is on all the time I'm at home though. The management here make a nice profit on this. My girlfriends 4 bedroom house with lots of aircon units and 5 people residing therein costs under 2,000 baht a month, so my block management is charging a lot more per unit (I have a meter but can't get to it, have to ask). HH will you rent or buy? If you buy you can deal with the electric company direct and avoid such high charges.
Heim_Hung
Hello, Thanks for your insightful information. That means if I rent an one bedroom apartment, most likely I have to pay approximatley 3,000 - 4,000 Bhat per month for electricity!
elef
TGF has an apartment house, she gets a discount from electricity company, but still charges 3 times the normal rate for electricity. Part of the rent she says.
samak
no, that is definitely too much! with a reasonable use of aircondition (not on when you are out) and assuming landlord does not charge more than double he pays i would say around 1-2k Baht i paid around 3-5k according to season but i had a 200 sqm apartment

stappler
It sounds all on the cheap side, I was more used to see electricity bills 15 to 20% of the rents. Landlord charging 6TBH per unit.
