That way there is no doubt she is with you and will not get hassled. They might ask how long you are staying and only give her that long, but most of the time they will stamp in for 30 days. Make sure your passport has at least 6 months left before expiry. One time my wife, had only 4 months left and we were sent home on the return flight without entry. They are so strict. Yes,we found this out last year when we visited Lao but we were tipped off by the check in girl at Suvanabum that the immigration officials at Lang Prabang would turn a blind eye to this for a bribe of $200 US. We discussed this and when we got off the plane Mrs Lusty and myself gave each other a wide berth(not need a "rich" Farange on the scene).
