Asa Man, Nong Toom was awesome, taking a lot of the more "flamboyant/difficult/long forgotten moves and techniques, and bringing them back. He made the sport an art again. In life, I have to respect Her life, and her philosophy. I met her at the Fairtex camp in Bnagplee a few years back, and a few times since. A remarkable person on many levels.

I recall her once being asked if it was more difficult being a man or a woman. She replied " both have their challenges/difficulties, but in life, the most difficult thing is to be YOURSELF..."

Slightly off topic, I went to see Women's Muay Thai in SF at the old Kezar Pavilion a couple of months ago (one of the women I train with was on the card). It was a great event ... some of the fights were terrific ... in a great venue (you could practically hear the old Roller Derby ghosts skating around the joint).

Yeah, I remember watching roller derby as a kid. Wasn't Kezar Pavilion home of the Bay Bombers, arguably the most popular team in the sport's heyday?

Back on topic, thanks for the info Mekong. Does anyone know if you can still go to the Sunday afternoon fights televised on Channel 7 for free? The farang surcharge at Lumpini has gotten up there these past few years.

Last time I saw, the tickets at Lumpini and Ratchadamdearn had doubled, 2000 for a ringside seat. SOme of the camps can get you a cheaper seat sometimes...

I think the Sunday fights are still free, are you talking about the "arena" near Morchit?

The Kezar fight nights are good, but you can't fight full rules Muay Thai in California...except on an Indian reservation or Casino. Quite a few full rules fights in the L.A. Area. Worth the trip down for a good card.

Yes, that's the place. I'm not one to complain about double pricing. I simply decide for myself when I will and won't pay it and Lumpini and Ratchadamdearn have reached the point where they're on my 'won't pay it' list.

I *might* pay it for a good fight card, such as the championships. But There are plenty of good places to go and see good fights. Try Sam Rong Stadium, maybe 45 from BKK, I think in Samut Prakharn. Also, in Pattaya, *some* decent fights, but they often have farang fighters, some of whom are very good.
