Kids need to learn about being responsible for their actions and I don't see public humiliation as being congusive. The shame cycle usually is something learnt and comes with dysfunctional families. That word is NO. Most parents don't use it enough. Most parents don't know how to use it. Most parents don't follow thru with it.
