what career choices would you suggest for a college educated Thai?

I ran into a female police captain at immigration once who had a BA and MA from the States. She was decidedly unhappy about ending up as a police captain, since the odds were she'd never get above that rank.

Years ago I knew a brother and sister who'd graduated in the States - and owned several nudie bars in Patpong!

Why did no one state the obvious: if she is fluent in *Chinese*, English and Thai she will have a bright future.

If possible she should definitely combine studying something like economics, law, whatever, in with Chinese.

China already is and will become even more the superpower in Asia and all those who are able to work at junctures between the West and China (speaking the language, knowing the huge cultural difference in doing business e.g.) will have unlimited opportunities, either in LOS, Beijing or the USA.

A degree in one of the following disciplines:

Chemical/petroleum engineering

Computers

Business

Learn a language in addition to Engrish:

Mandarin

Japanese

Indian

Unless they open their own business's in Thailand, they will be unlikely to be wealthy working for someone else.
