UDD to hold mass protest on Jan 31

The United for Democracy against Dictatorship (UDD) will hold a mass anti-government demonstration in Sanam Luang on January 31.

UDD core member and Puea Thai party MP Jatuporn Prompan together with other UDD key figures held a press conference at Imperial World Ladprao Department Store on Wednesday.

Deposed prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra will make a phone-in on the Democracy Television (DTV) channel after Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva's weekly television show on the state-run National Broadcasting Television (NBT) channel on Sunday morning, Mr Jatuporn affirmed.

He also claimed that the government is attempting to remove officials who are supporting the previous administration after referring to the possible transfer of the Department of Special Investigation (DSI) director-general, Pol Col Tawee Sodsong.

He accused the Democrat party of trying to escape its cases that are being investigated at the moment.

Former prime minister's office minister and UDD key member Jakrapob Penkair said the red-shirt protesters will send letters to embassies of Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean) member countries.

He said the UDD members support the works of Asean in all levels but they cannot accept the Thai government, as it lacks to legitimacy to administer the country.

As long as they stay the hell away from the airport..until after Feb 2 at least :neener:

Nope, they need to keep the airports running until at least until June 9th!

But I'll be willing to allow any other sort of unrest until then if it makes the baht go back down to 45/$

:)
