Cost of Living (Survival) in LOS ?

I can contrast Pattaya and Buriram and have places in both.

Electricity runs about Bt1000 a month on average in Buriram and Bt1500 on average in Pattaya. Aircon only in bedrooms, fans otherwise. Buriram is cooler so less aircon.

Gas for cooking is about Bt300 and every 3/6 months.

Water is a few hundred each month, a little more if you water a garden. On housing estates the fees for water are much higher but still cheap.

Community costs vary but can be a few hundred and up if you have a communal pool etc.

A local market for Thai stuff nearly daily is a good thing to have. Access to a main supermarket like Carrefour is very good. BigC just isn't enough really.

A beer in a local bar in Pattaya is about Bt70 for a small one. No big ones. Central Pattaya is about Bt90. In Buriram large ones are everywhere and they cost about Bt90 (this is all Heineken).

Fresh food is relatively cheap but western things can really push the prices up. Make sure you have access to a good bread shop if you like bread.

I'd say the missus spends about Bt1/200 a day on average at the market and we spend another 4/6k a month at the supermarket.

Gas for truck is about Bt2000 a month for 100 litres which is about 1000/1200km. Servicing and other stuff another Bt1k a month (not really that high but for new tyres etc.) Insurance about 2k a month.

Go out for dinner and a few beers and you can easy spend less than Bt1000. Eat western food and drink wine and you can spend BT10,000. That is the area of choice.
