How many working on Soi Cowboy

Talking with a 'friend' who works in one of the bigger bars she said there are some 60 girls working in her bar. If 50 is a typical average for the 8 or 9 bigger places and say 20 for the dozen or so smaller places it would suggest there are some 600-700 girls working in Soi Cowboy. I wonder how many might get barfined on say any given 'good' night, Thursday through Sunday perhaps. Would 50% seem unreasonable? That's a lot of sex. Factoring the barfines, I think 600 is the Cowboy standard, that would give 180,000 baht, if the average 'tip' is 2k that represents 600,000 baht, totalling 780,000 baht in punter payout plus drinks etc. I'm not a big spender but typically drop 1.5k each time I'm out so maybe that's an average. Assuming twice as many guys in the soi on any given night as those who barfine and that gives 900,000 baht. Whilst these are just fag packet guesstimations it does indicate something around 1.7 million baht on a given 'good' night, say two times a week gives about 170 million a year in predominantly imported foreign currency being turned into locally spent Thai baht. And this just for Soi Cowboy.

 

I might be a mile off with these assumptions but across multiple p4p areas the numbers must be big enough to register.

 

Not much purpose to my rambling I guess but just got me thinking that there are probably a lot of people having sex on lower Suk at any given time and some serious money changing hands.

 

Just hope my friend isn't seeing too much of it, ha ha. Yes I know going goo goo over a go go girl is a recipe for ruin, but then I am the personification of weakness.

I think your estimation of 600 - 700 girls in Soi Cowboy is WAY under the mark

 

Just look at the bigger bars alone....

 

Take Tilac for example...there would have to be 200 + girls in there. (So, I've been told)

..then add in, say, the biggest 6 on the strip

 

I have no knowledge of exact ...or even remote numbers....but I think we would all be surprised at an "exact head count"

 

Be interested to hear if someone has any really accurate numbers (absolutely no offence intended...it's just that your post has made me curious)

Ah curiosity indeed. Gotta say there can be no real use to a post like this but to the interested it's just, well, interesting.

 

Your comment about Tilac has me thinking since that is where my 'friend' works. She said 60, that's a whole lot different to 200. More research needed :grin: :hubba:

I'd guess the number of 600-700 is low too. I'd almost double it. I'd say closer to 1200. I counted 28 bars, not sure if my map is accurate. Taking into account some obviously only have a handful or so and some have 100 or more (I think tilac having 200 is a high guess) I'd have to certainly say it's over 1000 for sure, any given night. So I'll split the difference to 1100.

 

50% of the girls barfined may be high but some girls get multiple fines a night so it may average out. Hard to say on that one. I think 600B is an accurate number for a fine too.

 

Now the tips and the average bill are really the variables here. Some people spend 1.5k in a matter of minutes at one bar while it may last someone else all night. I think that number is low. I'd have to double it for an average, IMO. The tip of 2k is probably fairly close for the short times and long times being paid. I'll go with your guess also about the number of guys on the soi, as far as not barfining.

 

That brings my guestimate to 330k for barfines, 1.1 mil for tips to ladies for services rendered and 3.3 mil for drinks tickets. Total for the night 4.7+ mil baht. Anyone agree.......disagree?

My friend works in Tilac and she said hok sip, I've no reason to doubt her and she has no reason to exagerate one way or the other. May have been a guess but she seems on the ball enough.

 

If they meet quota, 8 offs and 50 drinks a month, then they make 10k so with 60 on the books that's 600k out the door. My guess is probably only half making the numbers regularly, I know my friend definitely relies on my patronage to make her numbers.

 

She says she makes about 20k total these months, give or take and after expenses and sending some home to moma she's getting by. Still I can't help think that there is a lot of money changing hands and a lot of sex happening. Got to be good for the economy.

ok, 60 seems at the low end (there are always some off or barfined) and 200 is too much for Tilac.

so i would guess somewhere around 1000-1200 BG in Soi Cowboy.

however i guess that less than 50% get barfined on a average day
