Piss me off.

I just spent 1/2 hour making a response and my cookie or session or whatever gave out!!!!

Okay, here's a short brief of what the novella I just wrote but that is now lost.

I entered the bar. Upon seeing the girl, I felt the halo of the avenging punter. I walked up to her and let her know in just no uncertain terms what I thought. I sat back down. She comes over, says, "You coulda been a pretender, but your just a wannabee punter." I get really upset, I proceed to give her a WCW or WWF pile driver. She bounces back and and tries to groin kick me, but I've watched to much bruce lee and used the green hornet move (way before the matrix) to evade her and do an enter the dragon on her... and I woke up.

Did I mention that I don't feel well?

Okay, I went up to her and told her she was jai damn and mai dee. I sat back down. No problem making a small scene if you are in the right. She cames down. Tries to blame me. Butterfly, blah blah blah. I ask her why she was so jai damn after I was so jai dee? Offering to give her the barfine and a small tip if she just wanted to go home for free (about 1 minute after we left the bar). No problem. She said she wanted to go with me. Back at my place, I said it was okay if she wanted to leave early to meet her parents who are in town because of her birthday (it was her birthday). Yet after I was so nice she was black hearted. She had no response to this except to try and stare me down. I was shocked that she tried this. I hold her stare and she finally breaks. We stared for awhile.

I think I actually got to her when she asked me what did I want. I said sanuk mah, but koon mai sanuk. (I wanted fun, but she was no fun).

Basically I made my point. I was happy but she had a friend who was a nosy busybody who just pissed me off. Several times. When it was over, she would revive the matter. Anyways, they finally both stay away from me. I spend 1/2 hour playing with the waitresses (which I alawys do at this place. It is a rarity if I even talk with a dancer). Actually, I was surprised at the waitresses as they were the ones who pushed her on me. Additionally, I was surprised at the Stunner's actions, but then she was only there a week. Many of the dancers understand that I know the owner and several other folks so I doubt they would pull this stuff on me. Then again, this girl was only there a week.

So I was going to leave in a good mood and the instigator cames over. I told her no. She waves over the stunner. I wave her back, but here she comes too. There goes my good mood. So on my way out, I talk to one of the owners and say you may have a problem with a new girl and you should keep an eye on her. Well, the story gets dragged out. I don't regret anything but this part. And well, maybe talking so long with the stunner's friend. I knew she was a lost cause.

Maybe that's my karma for being sick.

Ah well.

Not worth the wait eh? Well, it serves me right because I broke one of my cardinal rules. Never taking someone I meet the first time. Even said so that night to my friend who was sitting next to me!!!

No, I'm not shocked or surprised that they lie. Just that they do that to me smile.gif Guess I'll wake up one of these days. Wasn't looking for the girlfriend experience. It's just everytime I try to be nice I get bit. I have offered free barfines and a small tip to five girls. Four of the girls wanted to go with me anyways. I've had horrendous times with all four (ranging from this beauty to one taking additional cash out of my wallet). The fifth one was just thankful to go home (her home) because her feet hurt. Don't see her anymore as she's retired and I hope for good. She is a nice girl. But geez, when I try to be nice, I get bit 80% of the time.

Keep doing the right thing and at least you'll always have a clear conscience. I don't get shocked that some girls try these things, just at how poorly they do it and how short-sighted it often is.

PhordPhan also mentioned having a number of long posts wasted because of the time out. I don't understand why this is an issue. Can't you just use the back button on your browser to go back to the editor window? Which browser are you using that won't let you do this? I've been timed out many times and never had a problem with just logging in from another browser window and reposting the message.

Get well soon Gummigut. I enjoyed your story. Thank you for the suspense and fun.

Farangdang (another topic): LOL-- "No shagging customers, only the owners..." Funny comment you made! Hehee. smile.gif

FD

I too have been experiencing the same problem but only since the change over to the new version of the board.

Prior to the change it workeed as you state since then no . If i use the back button i will return to the screen but the data will have gone and i will have to start again.

I use ie6 as browser.

I suppose one way around it particularly if one wishes to create a long post is to type it in Word and then cut/paste

Interesting. I use IE6 most of the time and have no problem going back to recover my post. I believe I have just the default settings, and a quick glance through my options didn't show anything that would make my setup different from yours. I have seen the behavior you describe on some forms, but I haven't bothered to track down whether it was because they are secure pages or that the fields/text boxes were marked with a special tag.

Since more than a few users have this problem, it should be addressed by hacking/patching the software or by posting a tip on what setting to tweak to get this to work for different versions of IE.

Hi,

I'll bring it up on the dev board, and see what I can find out.

Sanuk!

Stickman was right. Chalk it up to experience.

It is amazing how often I just happen to meet BGs on their birthdays. It just keeps happening over and over again.

Your story probably strikes a nerve because probably all of us here have had similiar experiences. It is going to happen in Bangkok nighttime venues, but there is something particularly annoying about having someone take advantage of you when you are trying to do a good deed.

Here is a silver lining - by posting your message, you may have prevented some other guy from getting duped with the same ploy. I think the internet has not only contributed to popularizing Bangkok's nighttime venues, but also reduced the learning curve for those who frequent them.

I met with a couple of guys here on business from the U.S. several days ago. It was their first trip to Thailand, but they certainly knew more about Thailand than I did when I first came here. They knew about bar fines, ST prices, shows and even knew that the Crown Group bars were charging more for beer than other bars in Nana and had written down the names of those bars.

The only thing they were not clear on, however, was how best to get to Nana. Domestic constraints prevented me from personally escorting them to Nana Wednesday night, so the best I could do was set them off in the right direction in a taxi after dinner. I spoke with one of them after our Thursday morning meeting (he was late - I wonder why?), and it sounds though they did quite well.

The internet is changing the terrain. The bar owners presumably recognize that word gets around faster now (at least I hope so), but I am not quite sure if most of the BGs really appreciate what the internet means in terms of how fast information is disseminated these days.

What about Control panel > Internet > General tab > then the Settings button in the Temporary Internet Files section.

This setting didn't seem to affect whether it lost my data or not (it didn't lose it with either automatic refresh or always refresh). But I didn't try exiting the browser completely (I wouldn't think that would make a difference but you never know).

My original setting was automatic refresh, if that helps anyone.
