Bus Routes

How does one figure out which buses go where? I have one of the many maps which is virtually impossible to read. What is recommended? I am also intending to have a look at the BMT web site but want to set a couple of hours aside for that one.

Any suggestions?

I lay claim to being the bus anorak of this board. The B60 maps of BKK give the bus numbers and are mostly accurate, albeit hard to get used to. After that you just get a feel for where the buses go by seeing them around town. Travel with a Thai sometime; they know all the buses by heart. Lastly, although I speak crap Thai, I can read it. Reading the signs has helped me out on numerous occasions when I am lost in the outskirts somewhere.

Even I didn?t know about the BMTA website. Sound?s awesome. What?s the address?

A3 goes Sukhumvit and turns left into Ekamai just past the busstation. You will have to get off after the turn and walk back. That's not pleasant by 35C.

Also note the price is 100 baht and a taxi is around 300

By the way, if you intend to head for Pattaya better take a taxi to the Northern busstation Mo Chit and get a bus to Pattaya there. It's a lot faster.
