cavanami
Serious question. A friend is in the hospital and he has no wife, no relatives (an orphan) in BKK. He has been in ICU for the past week, sedated and completely unconscious. Now, bills must be paid, etc. I have all his ATM cards, banks accounts, etc, but no PIN numbers, so I can not access anything. He has no will or any paperwork to appoint someone with "power of attorney", etc. How to do???? I am working with the hospital, as they want to get paid and will try his bank, Bangkok Bank tomorrow to see if they can help. Bottom line, if you are alone, have a will, power of attorney, etc so someone can take care of you! More as it happens...
allistar
I'd also contact his native embassy. Chances are they have had this happen before and might have some advise.
Redbaron
Sounds bad, good luck to you and your friend cav. Maybe a letter from the hospital to the bank will help..
cavanami
I tried the letter from the hospital, no go. I have been able to get the ACS at the US Embassy involved, so I hope they can get the ball rolling. A good wake up call to all x-Pats...have your paperwork and shit in order! It plays hell trying to catch up and get something done in LOS!!!
