Coss Posted September 3, 2009 Report Share Posted September 3, 2009 I saw a rerun of the mythbusters episode recently. It was about the third rail in train system. Most likely the voltage was quite low. An electric fence to keep animals in would have many thousands of volts. My understanding is that pulses of many thousand volts pass from the wire to earth through the animal. The "animal" is a conductor due to the fluid and chemical content of the body, think saline solution as a body fluid replacement. Urine is similar in makeup.
