Guest Posted October 26, 2001 Report Share Posted October 26, 2001 In the last six months, Chiang Mai cops have been constantly harassing the ladyhouses in Santitham, the nightlife area for locals, apparently demanding ever increasing bribes. This has gotten much worse in the last two weeks, with most of the houses apparently shut down. This same area has as many gay prostitution houses as straight, but the gay houses are never touched. They are allowed to leave their lights twinkling while the lady houses have to turn theirs off and pretend to be closed. Can anyone explain why this is so?
