Gareth1978
hey all, wondering if somebody could advise me of where I can go to get an STD (hiv/hep/etc) test around lower sukhumvit? or within 20-30mins travel time away preferably not too expensive :nahnah: thanks in advance, Gareth
Hugh_Hoy
If I had any concerns, I'd go to Bumrungrad hospital. On the other hand, if you're concerned about cost, I'd ask how much you think your health/life is worth. :content: HH
Gareth1978
my only concern is that i haven't had one in about 10yrs and think it's about due. seems like a pretty simple procedure, i don't see the point in paying 2-3x at one place than i could pay at another that does the same thing
Pom Michael
Soi 11, in the same complex as Cheap Charlies (inside the little square area off of Soi 11 on the left hand side, about 150 meters from Sukhumvit).

typedef222
If you're American, watch out -- if you get tested positive for the big one, any insurance you have (or may have in the future), will drop you like a hot potato. I suggest you insist on *anonymous* testing, and don't give out your name. That may be difficult at Bumrungrad, but is OK in a smaller places... one I know is the small (but still modern/clean) Thainakarin clinic on Soi 4. jakestevernson
Yea good advice so far use a fake name and get a full check at Bumunrungrad hosiptal. The longer you leave the more you will stress and possibly pass something on. Most the STD's are curable so try not to panic too much. Good luck. cavanami
BTS to Ekkamai, then a 5 minute walk to Sukhumvit Hospital...1/2 the cost of Bumunrungrad
typedef222
@cavanami Thanks a lot -- this is useful, especially since it's a large hospital. They advertize 1750 baht package (will see if it's true): http://www.sukumvithospital.com/en/modules.php?name=Content&pa=showpage&pid=17 Problem with small clinics is that you can't trust them to do a test at all and there is no way to verify. It is easier and cheaper for to just print a piece of paper and say "all OK". Given how a Thai mind works (lack of integrity in business and aversion to bad news), I'd almost expect that approach. The clinics do not have a lab and would outsource it to a larger hospital, so I can't imagine they'd be cheaper (if they actually do the test). hyaehus
Bumrungrad is a good choice. Make an appointment through the internet. Use a name of your choice when making the appointment (you should choose a urologist from the list of doctors) and there won't be a problem requiring identification.
