shygye
That's like blowing up a 320 by 200 video to 1080p and calling it HD. Cranking up the video compression introduces all sorts of artifacts. Lookup the bitrates for broadcast HD and compare that to your network connection. soongmak
That's like blowing up a 320 by 200 video to 1080p and calling it HD. A bit harsh, and not completely true. HD is a misleading term. You make the basic mistake that many people make, and that is that HD somehow equates high guality video. Sadly it doesn't. HD video is video with a resolution of 720p or higher. The quality of course varies from total crap to pretty awesome, not only because if the difference in bitrate, but also the difference in codec. I have seen total crap Blurays and some pretty good HD vids at Youtube.

Mekong
Its growing daily, the list posted was what TRUE promised to have available as a minimum when the 3G trial went live last December. Even though I live approx 2 KM east of Sathorn thee are no buildings in direct line of site and I was connecting to 3G from home

gawguy
I do agree with you though that an Atom isn't good enough to display HD Video properly. I have an Acer Timeline with an SU9400 processor, and it can do the task (but only just). I have heard people getting it on with a single core su3500, but I wouldn't do it. If I were GG it would be a toss up between portability, simple pC stuff like office applications and SD video on one hand, or spend a little bit more and get HD video capability and a little bit bigger screen in the 11 to 13 inch range. The trade off is of course more weight and less money in your pocket! My netbook just arrived from Costco online. Samsung N120-13GBL 10.1" Netbook Intel Atom N270 1.6GHz $299 Haven't turned it on yet. Decided HDTV not an issue as I don't have a source and don't much care. Some YouTube type videos are just clearer than others. Those shot for HDTV are probably the clearest, but not because I receive them in HD. If I did they would be even more clear. I'm planning to travel around Europe soon and wanted netbook mainly to keep in touch with business associated and friends via email and skype. Thanks for the input. Now look my next post cause I have another question. Should I give Bill Gates my real name?
Mekong
Quick update I am using 3G in Hua Hin sat in a small bar close to Sheraton. Getting > 4Gbps down and 256Kbps up, good enough for streaming YouTube on the iPhone
