Flashermac
Bangkok Post 13 Feb 2010 Thaksin kids' gag petition rejected The Supreme Court's Criminal Division for Holders of Political Positions on Friday rejected a petition filed by two children of former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra for a gag order on former members of the Assets Scrutity Committee (ASC) before the court verdict in the 76 billion baht assets seizure case to the media. Thaksin's son Pingpangpong and daughter Pongpangping on Thursday submitted the petition to the court, saying that former members of the ASC, which handled the assets seizure investigation, should not be allowed to give their legal views on the case before the verdict is delivered because they could confuse the public and affect the justice process. Anurak Sanga-areekul, the court's secretary, said the panel of nine judges considered the petition and decided to reject it on the grounds that the petition did not meet the criteria stated in Article 30 of the Commercial Procedures Code and Artile 18 of the Criminal Procedures Code for Holders of Political Positions. Mr Anurak said Thaksin made a similar petition on Aug 6, 2009 but it was also rejected by the court.
