khunsanuk
Hi, I'll try as well, but have a meeting that afternoon. Not sure when it will finish. Sanuk!
Flashermac
Looks like my HD has fried again! I'll be off getting in fixed on Friday, though I'd prefer having the damned PC cremated. Friday is the earliest I'll be free to take it in for an exorcism.
cavanami
Bring the HD down to Bradman's and I will take a free look at it, providing you can spare it for a day or two.
Flashermac
Thanks for the offer. Be nice to have someone intelligent (sort of) look at it instead of the Thai "experts". But I'll probably lug the damned thing over to the shop tomorrow. The old HD fried last year, so I replaced it. After about two weeks, the 150 gb HD was showing it had only 12 gb! Swapped it for a new one from the manufacturer. And now this one seems to have gone pfffffffffft. Do the Chinese send their crap down to Thailand and sell the good stuff in the west? It was working fine on Tuesday, then suddenly froze. When I rebooted, I got "Please insert boot disk." I put in the Win 7 install disk to repair it, but nothing happened. Now when I power up the PC, the only thing that seems to be moving are the fans. The HD doesn't even kick in. :onfire:
Khun_Kong
Loose power cables? Try tightening up connections, then try another drive.
Flashermac
I tried all the conections. Everything seems fine. Of course, when I get it to the shop the %$#@! thing will probably work.
cavanami
*** Usually *** a HD will last for some years. I have bought them at Pan Tip before and they have worked OK, so nothing special, from what I see, going on here in LOS. I think they make some HDs in LOS and I know that they do make them in Malaysia (KL). Electronics fail for three main reasons; heat, vibration (dropping a HD) and dirt or electrical spikes (actually four main reasons, I can't count, not a math major and all that). Flashermac
Well, I pulled it all apart and stuck it back together again with no results. Took it in to the shop, where the guy did the same thing ... and it worked! I always knew computers didn't like me. And now it's drizzling rain outside. What season are we in in any way?
