South Korea's president President Lee Myung-bak

The cause of the explosion on the 1,200-tonne Cheonan remains unclear.

The BBC's John Sudworth in Seoul says several possibilities have been suggested:

* an accidental onboard explosion

* a blast caused by hitting rocks or sea mines

* or a deliberate outside attack.

The naval patrol vessel sank near the disputed maritime border with North Korea but military officials say there is no indication the North was involved. ...

But some relatives are accusing the navy of a cover-up, saying the ship was in need of repair.

I don't think the US would pass up a chance. China, Japan and South Korea may not be so keen.

Going to get NK would erase anything anyone thought about BO and the current game plans. It is pretty clear China would not care and would love for us to take responsibility for NK away from them.

And yea, no media sleeping here. It was all over Fox and CNN.

Doubt that. The reason China has not backed reform in NK is that they do not want the massive influx of refugees.

Compare that to the massive influx of refugees from Iraq and Afgan out of the those countries during the current war.... (I.e., none) and you see my point. They would love us to take it on as we tend to pay the people left off.
