BaronTT
Nguyen Hue is close to where I stay, the Sheraton. The street that is in back of the Sheraton has bars, hostess bars, and massage places. Start there (Dong Du), keep going until the end, then turn left on Thi Sach, up until about Nguyen Sieu. And also that area. That route has bars all along the way, many of which have hostesses. A lot, if not all, of the hotels don't let you take locals back to your room, BTW. Dali
Sanuk scene in HCMC is very different than Thailand. There are some hostess bars and karaoke places with girls, though they are generally a rip-off and will try to fleece large sums of money for drinks, food, tips, etc. for the girls, their friends, the mamasan, the DJ, etc, etc. Best to go to Apocolypse Now disco and try your luck with a FL, if you can stand the smoke and loud music. Good News: No hotels have joiner fees. Bad News: No hotels allow joiners. If you hook up with a FL or bar girl, she though can probably direct you to a ST hotel. Dali
Sorry... to answer the original question.. District 1 is where the nightlife, restauarants, pubs, shopping, etc. are for foreigners. Bottom Line: HCMC is worth a visit, to see a n interesting city and culture place that is rapidly changing and modernizing. Though if getting laid is an essential component of sanuk for you, best avoid Vietnam and stick to LOS.
Belem
I remember reading a post giving advice about Vietnam on this board. It went something like this:If you are only going to be in Southeast Asia for 2 weeks, don't go to Vietnam if going only for the girls. Go to Thailand, as your biggest problem is sorting through all the girls as opposed to looking for action and finding guest friendly hotels. However, if you're looking for an interesting place to make a visa run or you will be in SEA for several months, then by all means go to Vietnam. That's good advice. WorldFun
serviced apartments, private flats, guest houses - at least one of those MUST allow (local) guests (after the curfew!)?
Belem
Some hotels will even allow your girl to stay in your room for the night...if you register her for a different room in case the authorities check.
