Tangent alert!

Just saw on NZ TV, a reporter talking to a NZ'er Nikki Cox, of the NZ-Thai Chamber of Commerce.

And a fine looking bloke she is too, if she hadn't been referred to as a woman, I would put money on her being a bloke. If you ever see her, you'll understand what is wrong with NZ women.

Just as I wrote yesterday, the Red leadership has lost control, now the thugs and the desperates control the protest, without having any real objective anymore - except maybe causing as much damage as possible.

Let's hope that this isn't the beginning of much more trouble in the north.

One leader, Jatuporn Prompan, declared the protest over.

“We cannot resist against these savages anymore,†Mr. Jatuporn said on a stage inside the protest zone. He was booed.

“Please listen to me, please listen to me!†he pleaded to the angry crowd. “Brothers and sisters, I will use the word “beg.†I beg you. We have to end this for now.â€Â

But Mr. Jatuporn’s words did nothing to calm the chaos. Protesters began smashing the surrounding buildings, a large shopping mall called Central World was on fire, and as many as 20 loud explosions were head.

Reds dissatisfied, run amok

2:32pm

The red shirts were not satisfied with their leaders' decision to surrender and end their rally. They set fire on various spots around the rally site, according to television reports.

While a number of their leaders surrendered to the Royal Thai Police Office, noises of explosions were heard many times near the main rally stage.

[color:red]Billows of smoke were seen blowing out from in front of the Central World department store.

Some of the protesters smashed glass panes around the department stores while others threw fire bombs into the first floor of the building.[/color]

At the Sala Daeng intersection, the protesters destroyed telephone booths, advertisement signs, traffic signs, and others.

There was a Red Shirt protest in Surin last night at the City Hall gov building. About 500 Red Shirts. No violence I have heard of so far. No parades of pick-ups or large gatherings. All quiet here basically.

Glad my daughter is back from her summer schooling classes in Kohn Kaen now. I ran into a few protest marches there when in Koh Kaen.

Bangkok Post being evacuated

3:40pm

All staff were ordered to leave the Bangkok Post building in Klong Toey shortly before 3pm as red-shirts gathered nearby at five-ways and advanced down Na Ranong Road towards the Post building about 200 metres away.

The Post building also houses the sister Thai-language Post Today newspaper.

WTF? There can't be that many red shirts. A platoon of infantry should be able to stop them. :(
