Tosser of The Year!

I guess the fact he's as vulnerable as he is, being a foreigner here with a Thai family, by interrogating him they'll probably get some good info. Obviously he knew what was about to go down. And I would guess he knows the names of at least some of the people he was associating with.

Just saw this in an AP/Yahoo story:

Government spokesman Panitan Wattanayagorn said a British citizen, Jeff Savage, was being questioned by police on suspicion he instigated some of the arson attacks, as reported by the British media.

"He admitted to newspapers that he was present at a few locations (of arson attacks). Authorities want to question him under what condition he was there," Panitan told The Associated Press.

The Times of London said Savage, 48, a long-time resident of the Thai beach resort of Pattaya, was caught on video saying he and others were going to burn down Central World.

However, Savage told The Times he was not involved in the burning but added it was common knowledge in the Red Shirt camp that CentralWorld would be burned.

Several Westerners were seen taking part in Red Shirt rallies before the army assault, although it is not clear what their motives were.

whole original story

Sounds like it was planned and also openly known about in the reds community.

Now that he has been arrested he is deeply embedded within the Thai prison and justice system which is incredibly slow, viscious and unwieldy. he obviously has smoe mental issues but he is in deep deep shit. His statement that he can

"prove" he was not involved is bascially useless here given the tape and subsequent interviews that were tantamount to inciting the act of arson itself. THAI JAIL VERY VERY UNPLEASANT...

jitagawn,

Mental issues! Pretty obvious flame there.

wendella,

If this really does become a trial there are going to be hundreds or maybe even thousands of hours of Red Shirt village hard guys gossiping on cell phones about all the terrible things they can and will do to Bangkok, rich Thais, Thais with jobs in BKK, Thais that have things they don't, falang, etc.

Good thing for the Red Shirt movement I say. Kept these guys from becoming full-time meng da or, even worse, having to finish their jail terms.

My comment about his mental issues was regarding his blatant verbal self incrimination. One has to be a bit short of a full hand to say what he has to the international press.

Also its rather obvious he is a red shirt supporter that goes without saying.

Flame towards who this tosser?

No worries its an insignifigant issue except to this fellow who will have a very difficult time in the coming months.

Cheers

ACA,

Your comment was also a flame, as much as I disagree with the methods employed by the majority of Red Shirts it was / is still their democratic right to protest, and their voice was being heard.

I belive that the incidents that happened from April 10 onwards were the work of a Radical element rather than the majority, and to label all Red Shirts as having mental issues is akin to labeling all British expats as shave headed tattooed lager lout football hooligans.

Admittedly such exists amongst both groups but it does not represent the norm.

There are unsubstantiated rumours going around that Jeff Savage was exposed to situations non of us would wish to see during his tour of duty in Bosnia and UK MOD washed their hands of him and put him on medication with invalidity payments.

Maybe we should all await the full facts before passing judgement.

This guy obviously has severe issues and problems. The Thais should just revoke his visa, if he has one that is valid, and ship him home and blacklist him. Rather, they will try to make the Brit Pattaya farang some sort of evil rabble rousing scapegoat that is to blame for the arsons and red shirt rampage. When in truth he is a sad disturbed man. Thais will always blame the farang if they can. It's a convenient excuse that goes down well with many Thais.

The Dutch guy arrested is just a punk who took his turn being a psuedo anarchist smashing a sign in the VDO. He thought he was being cool. Idiot.

Eject both of them from the country and blacklist them, and any other farang that became involved in the protest and riots. Flotsam and jetsam from the west that are better off gone from the LOS.
