Which is the Best Hospital in Thailand?

Would anyone care to say which hospital they think is the best in Thailand? My bet would be Bumrungrad on Soi 3, but there is the Bangkok-Pattaya hospital too. And, I've heard good things about Bangkok Christian Hospital, which is cheaper than Bumrungrad. Of course I don't want to pay an unreasonable price, but the main thing is my health.

I have had a chronic health problem for a long time now, and I want to get something done about it if the possibility exists. Thanks!

I have only used Bumrungrad on Soi 3 so have to go with that, excellent treatment and a reasonable price for what I got. Search on Stickmans site I'm sure he did a report on a few Bangkok hospitals for one of his weekly reports.

Personally I would never use Bumrungrad. It believes its own self hype and I have heard many negative stories about the place. It has basically become a production line with very poor doctor/patient relationships.

I use Sametivej hospital for all my family's health matters and i am more than satified. My daughter was born there and they really do believe in building on-going relationships with patients rather than just being a pill dispenser.

Bangkok Hospital also has a good reputation,, Bangkok Nursing Home is ok as well as being a little cheaper.

IMHO Bumrungrad has an underserved quality reputation and it slightly annoys me when people automatically assume it's the best hospital in Bangkok.

The "big 4" in Bangkok are generally considered to be Bumrungrad, Bangkok Hopital, BNH and Samitiwej. There are many other very good hosptials but these 4 seem to have the best reputation.

Two worth mentioning in the next tier are Bangkok Christian and St Louis, both of which offer high quality and much more reasonable prices - and are MUCH cheaper than the 4 aforementioned hospitals.

I think it is hard to say that one hospital is better than another in the top tier because at the end of the day it comes down to the medical professionals you deal with. For example, Bumrungrad might have the best orthopaedic surgeons, BNH might have the best paediatric unit etc.

My personal preference is BNH although prices have sky rocketed there over the past few years.

I think many Thai hospitals better than Bumingrad, seen first hand what they DON;T do when patients in severe pain and trouble, would never want to experience myself the same (farang chick by the way at wrong end of treatment)

I do like Phayatai 2, always been good, quick, and no problems,

As said it comes down to specific condition & where more suitable doctor/speciality dept. might be found & of course looking within 'top 4' is a good start ;)

Personally I've always tried to avoid Bumrungrad for various reasons, but recently all 'evidence' pointed to them as my best bet for specific condition & in the end I guess I was treated OK :)

Doctor fee's very reasonable too @ 400bt which is on par or even cheaper than some 'tier 2' hospitals!

They got online appointment/doctor/specialist booking facilities as well as 'sms reminders'. Cool!

I've been inpatient at Bumrungrad twice for acute gastroenteritis. I have no complaints about them, and my impression *AT* *THE* *TIME* was that they were a first-rate operation. I've also used their outpatient clinic once, and would not hesitate to do so again if I saw the need.

I have no experience with any other hospitals in Bangkok. Experience with hospitals is something I try very hard to avoid accumulating, unlike experience with enthusiastically affectionate Thai females.

Never said it was the best or assumed it, only the one I had used and then pointing the OP to Stick to give some choice and views. What I really hate is people who can't make their own mind up and follow rumour and other peoples views blindly
