Old Hippie
The above laws are current immigration laws of MEXICO ! Actually' date=' they're not. They are very old laws that have been changed more than a decade ago, under pressure from international groups (including the USA).[/quote'] So what are the current laws? As I understand it, their immigration policies for legals and illegals are a lot tougher than ours. To me, there should be a price to pay to come here legally, and another to pay for coming here illegally. We need to take away ALL incentives these people have for coming here illegally. First step is cracking down on those who hire them.
shygye
There are plenty of Americans overstaying in Mexico. They are just left alone.
Bangkoktraveler
Oh, you mean like Ray-gun did in the 80s, the last amnesty? Don't forget the honorable John MCcain proposed along with Ted Kennedy an even more liberal immigration bill.
LizardKing
We need to take away ALL incentives these people have for coming here illegally. First step is cracking down on those who hire them. I'm 110% on board with that. And the laws are already in place should they choose to enforce them. But they never will, because sometime in the past we ceased being a democracy "of the people, for the people and by the people" and turned into a corpocracy where it is "for big biz, by big biz" and they do not want to lose their cheap labour. Why the hell do you think Reagan did the last amnesty. It certainly wasn't out of the goodness of his heart (he never had one LOL).
Hugh_Hoy
[the past we ceased being a democracy "of the people, for the people and by the people" and turned into a corpocracy where it is "for big biz, by big biz" and they do not want to lose their cheap labour. Why the hell do you think Reagan did the last amnesty. It certainly wasn't out of the goodness of his heart (he never had one LOL). OK Slick...first, it is "government of the people, by the people, for the people". Second, I always thought that the unions were the staunchist supporters of illegal immigration. And unions are the biggest supporters/contriutors to the Demoncrats. Demoncrats are generally in the middle and lower classes economically. I would think that they would be absolutely opposed to illegal immigration/amnesty, as the jobs taken by the "wets" are those more suited to this (generally) less educated class of citizens. As to whether or not Reagan had a "heart", well, I guess you are entitled to your opinion. But the reason for the bi-partisan bill was simply to supply affordable farm labor. You know, the work done by citizens before the Demoncrats introduced wholesale socialist welfare programs which not only paid citizens to not work, but stifled any incentive for many to get out of bed before noon. Amnesty was a failure over 20 years ago, but the Demoncrats are still pursuing it. Why, cuz the assholes want the Hispanic vote. Plain and simple, Obama and others are shamelessly pandering to the Hispanic vote at the expense of American citizens. HH
