The report has a fair point. I know at least four die hard Dems in my home town that are pissed at him for one reason or another. The main focus seems to be trying to go "to far too fast." Americans traditionally dont like change until change become academic. (Think "New Deal" in 1934.)

 

His main problem, and what in my opinion will make him a one term Pres, it the forcing down the throat of too many programs at too much cost while almost ignoring things like illegals killing people in the south make the press. (As they always have.)

 

Removing the US military from Iraq and Afgan and deploying them to the border seems a "no-brianer" to me and would be the biggest ratting booster I can think he could yet have. But we are no where near that kind of decision.

 

What truly shocks me about him is it is still more of the same. Almost nothing has changed since Bush and everything is going to cost more in the end.

Of course, that was proven to be simple propaganda versus the truth. Crime has been flat or lowered over the past 10 years along the AZ border.

I'll say that's at least 40% accurate (he has done some good things, but a lot of bad is still riding along out there or actually gotten worse) and that's 40% too much. Disappointing indeed.

What pisses me off about OB critics is they give the guy an egg timer to fix a mess that was 8 years in the making, created by themselves, yet take no blame for it. I don’t think you heard anybody on this board say invading Iraq was the right thing to do.

 

Obama is President only because he is half black. Had he been all black or all white, Hillary would’ve kicked his ass. He was elected on the basis of two things (neither of which was eminent experience): too many voters voting against what occurred under GWB and “white guiltâ€Â. I guess you can add to that Obama’s mastery of the teleprompter and conservative indifference regarding his opponent McCain).

 

Sure, 18 months is too short of a period to try to change everything he wants. But he IS leading the country into bankruptcy…and drawing the line in the sand for class warfare. He has done a lot of harm already to the country IMO…and will do even more if he has his way. He has shown ignorance, indifference, and arrogance. He does resemble Hitler when he was rising to power. He gets involved in shit he has no fucking business toying with. For example: the Boston episode of the university professor and the cop; the NYC mosque issue; the Arizona law regarding illegals. Go ahead and disagree. It ain’t gonna change my mind about those things. He is a total failure in engaging international adversaries as he claimed he would do when he was campaigning…like he was the fucking Messiah or something. Add to that his socialist agenda while ignoring the desires of majority of the citizens of this country and you can see why he will hopefully be a one-termer (if he lives that long).

 

Demoncrats like to keep blaming GWB for everything. That’s cuz they have can’t stand to have their guy criticized for his mistakes. Virgin is tired of the conservative talk shows bashing Obama; you have to expect that as much as the liberal shows which used to bash GWB in much less kind ways. Don't revise history. Dozens of people here, including yourself, were very pro-Iraq invasion. For several years, it was "you're a traitor of you don't like the *war*." Need I dig through archives? When Cheney was told a majority of Americans did not support it, he famously said "who cares what they think." Very democratic

 

And the class warfare thing? Your boy Reagan started that with the tax cuts for the rich and his voodoo economics, raising taxes on the middle class, busting unions and deregulating industry. Look at the data: middle class has been stagnant in real dollars since the early 80s. It requires two earners to keep up with the bills now. It didn't when I was a kid in the 1970s.

BTW I AM damn proud of OBAMA and the mosque thing. The GOP has chosen this one to be the "get out the vote boogeyman" for the base (as it was gay marriage in 2004) and it will kill them in the polls. He had to wade in because of idiots like Newt, King & others making it a big deal. Makes me very happy, watching the TeaBagger/Bircher wing kill them just like in 1964.

 

Why do you hate America? This is a subject that is at the very core off what it means to be an American -- 1st Amendment shit. I am very serious. And I am an atheist, so defending religion is distasteful to me, but necessary in this case.

 

But of course, the GOP has shown their hatred of American values by wanting to kill the 4th the 14th as well. Hence the Federal involvement in the AZ law. Oh, that reminds me, they hate the 10th amendment too. And several times GOP leaders have threatened to start a civil war. Not sure why that's not treason, except IOKIYAR.

 

Funny how us progressives have not done any of that even tho' we hated BushCo. We just waited until election time, but meanwhile tried to help run the country. The modern GOP can't even do that.

 

Some batch of conservatives we have nowadays. My dictionary defines conservatives as wanting to preserve the status quo and radicals as wanting to change long established precedents to assist a minority cause.
