TheCorinthian
Can someone who know type out... "All that is worth having is worth waiting for." ...for me in Thai? Thanks!
Old Hippie
I just emailed one of my teachers...there may some bit of culture here that influences what is said and how. I remember I onced asked several Thais what the Thai term was for "Lone Wolf" and they all basically said there was no real equivalent based on culture, closest they came up with was Lone tiger. cavanami
Try Google translate?
khunsanuk
Hi, "Try Google translate?" No, doesn't work. It comes up with "à ¸—à ¸±à ¹‰à ¸‡à ¸«à ¸¡à ¸â€Ã ¸—à ¸µà ¹ˆà ¸¡à ¸µà ¸¡à ¸¹à ¸¥à ¸„à ¹ˆà ¸²à ¸¡à ¸µà ¸¡à ¸¹à ¸¥à ¸„à ¹ˆà ¸²à ¸£à ¸Â", which then translate back to "Total value is worth waiting for." As OH said though, not sure if a literal translation really makes sense though. Sanuk!
Old Hippie
I have emails in to 3 teachers and a friend's wife, who was a translator in Udon Thani...I'll let you know what they say, could be a day or 2...
TheCorinthian
Something close would be good enough. I am very distrustful of google translate.
Flashermac
Running it through my mind, I can't think of any direct translation. I can say something very similar to it in several ways, but I'm not sure if they'd sound correct to a native Thai speaker. Better wait for the Siberian's teachers to translate it. Old Hippie
OK, one teacher has replied with this... "...I think we do have something equivalent to the phrase you sent. à ¸Âà ¸°à ¹„à ¸£à ¸—à ¸µà ¹ˆà ¸¡à ¸µà ¸„à ¹ˆà ¸² à ¸Âà ¹‡à ¸„à ¸¸à ¹‰à ¸¡à ¸„à ¹ˆà ¸²à ¹Âà ¸Âà ¹ˆà ¸Âà ¸²à ¸£à ¸£à ¸Âà ¸„à ¸Âà ¸¢ = what that is worth it, then it is worth waiting for it. Something like that - "
Flashermac
That's along the lines I was thinking, but that second parts it sounds a helluva lot prettier than anything I came up with.
Old Hippie
Well my teacher is a helluva a lot prettier than you as well! can you transliterate it? SO far I only get something like "...Arai tee mee ka... or something...lose it on the rest... Still waiting on the other 2 Krus to reply and see what they come up with, could be interesting, some are "culturally locked."
