ARTIP Information Assistant (.5 position)

Cardno Emerging Markets (Australia) Pty Ltd is seeking an Information Assistant for the Asia Regional Trafficking in Persons (ARTIP) Project regional office in Bangkok.

ARTIP is a five year Project, funded by the Australian Agency for International Development (AusAID), which is scheduled to finish in August 2011. The goal of ARTIP is to contribute to the prevention of people trafficking by facilitating a more effective and coordinated criminal justice response to trafficking. ARTIP works in Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Myanmar, the Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam to strengthen national and regional responses. Focusing on specialist and general law enforcement, and judicial and prosecutorial responses to trafficking, and policy, legal and research development, ARTIP assists partner countries to affect sustainable improvements in their criminal justice response to trafficking in persons.

Terms of Reference

Objective To ensure that project information and documentation systems are of the highest quality and that information is accessible to all internal and external stakeholders. Based in the Project office in Bangkok, the Information Assistant will help the Information officer and the team with the development and publication of the highest quality reports, training materials and publications possible. The IA will also help the team and counterparts organise meetings and trainings as required.

Activities ÿ Drafting reports in English. ÿ Formatting all training and other reports. ÿ Assist in the organisation and minutes taking of meetings, training courses and seminars. ÿ Assist with training material – proofing, formatting, check material reflects the Project’s

position on gender, is culturally sensitive, assist with finalising documents for print.

Salary and Conditions:

Salary is paid monthly in Thai baht equivalent of AUD 2,300 per month total package inclusive of tax and other benefits. Local health insurance will be provided. .5 position allocated as 3 days week one, 2 days week two

ÿ Final research studies – assist with interviews, research, writing, finalising (formatting, proofing etc).

ÿ Assist with sourcing quotes for printing and publications and preparing documents. ÿ Respond to requests for information from project staff and other stakeholders. ÿ Assist Information Officer with any end of project work. ÿ Other duties as requested by the Team Leader and Information Officer.

Desirable Competencies ÿ Fluency in English. ÿ Understanding of trafficking and the criminal justice system. ÿ Sound research, analytical and written communication skills. ÿ Demonstrated organisational skills. ÿ Demonstrated experience in working effectively in cross-cultural environments. ÿ Excellent communication skills and a participatory approach. ÿ Understanding and appreciation of gender and human rights issues. ÿ Excellent skills in document formatting. ÿ Competent information technology skills.
