- after the first few seasons of 'The West Wing', a large number of Americans reportedly wanted Martin Sheen to run for President

- after his son Charlie featured in several court appearances, support for such a campaign seems to have dried up

Its a fickle world, American politics :)

(still love 'The West Wing' though. Sorkin's writing is a lot sharper than whoever wrote Bush's rambling monologues)

This is EXACTLY the reason it is important for the US military to be involved in every border dispute and ethnic issue everywhere in the world!

Since Charlie Sheen had the scandals with the hookers and drugs that only reaffirms the clear need for America everywhere!!

<< OJ has nuttin' to do with it (and unlike conservatives, I believe that even tho' I think OJ did it, the right decision was reached by that court). >>

A judge who is a long time family friend told me the judge in OJ's trial was an incompetent. Apparently, he got picked because he was a minority. The prosecution was equally bad - picked a woman and a minority for appearance sake. not for ability. Finally, a former FBI forensic medicine expert told me he'd have been fired if he'd been as sloppy as the LA police with the OJ evidence. OJ was guilty as sin, but it would have been hard to convict him with the boobs conducting the case.

My sentiments exactly. They fucked up. The law is clear and it is better to let a dozen guilty go free than one innocent man get imprisoned. I forget who said that, but still true today.

So...he was "not guilty" by reason of ________? Are you sure that a decision on his guilt or innocence is dependent upon one's political tendencies? You must be admitting that conservatives believe in rule of law, whereas libtards do not. I guess you have admitted that you don't let facts get in the way of reaching the right conclusion.

Quite the opposite: progressives follow the law and appreciate the qualities of the USA; righties simply want to be dictators and make statements like the Constitution, the basis of the rule of the land, is just "a goddamn piece of paper."

OJ was not guilty by reason of incompetence. If you cannot see that, then you are a scary individual and seem to support any form of authority feeling that they can do no wrong (pretty much a standard conservative position, nowadays anyway). Especially when it comes to big biz and their own ideologues (including eliminating their own party ethics committee).

He was rightfully found not guilty because the prosecution fucked up; even you admit that. There are reasons there are chains of evidence, prosecutorial rules, etc. That is so innocent people do not go to jail. As some famous jurist once said: better a dozen criminals go free than one innocent man go to jail. That is quite simply the basis of our criminal justice system.

If you do not know that, then stay away from courtrooms.

TSA Pays Off In Breast Exposure Suit

JANUARY 13 -- The woman who sued the Transportation Security Administration after her breasts were exposed during a frisking at a Texas airport will receive a “nominal†payment from the government as part of a legal settlement, The Smoking Gun has learned.

The settlement was disclosed in documents filed last week in U.S. District Court in Amarillo, where Lynsie Murley last year filed a lawsuit accusing the TSA of negligence and intentional infliction of emotional distress in connection with the May 2008 incident at the Corpus Christi airport.

Murley’s lawyer, Jerry McLaughlin, declined to disclose the exact amount of money that his client is receiving, but termed the payout a “nominal settlement.†Asked if the amount hit six figures, McLaughlin laughed loudly and said the negotiated payment was “way less than that. It wasn’t a whole lot of money.†Murley, he said, “was never interested in the money,†and would not have filed a lawsuit if TSA officials had simply sent her a letter of apology.

The 24-year-old Murley alleged that after being “singled out for extended search procedures,†a TSA agent frisked her and “pulled Plaintiff’s blouse completely down, exposing Plaintiff’s breasts to everyone in the area.†Her complaint noted that, “as would be expected,†Murley was “extremely embarrassed and humiliated.â€Â

Murley charged that TSA employees “joked and laughed about the incident for an extended period of time.†After leaving the security line to be “consoled by an acquaintance who had brought her to the airport,†Murley returned to the line, where a male TSA worker said that he had wished he was there when she first passed through. The employee, Murley recalled, added that “he would just have to watch the video.â€Â

The court settlement was reached shortly after government lawyers deposed Murley. The agreement, McLaughlin said, “got her some justice.â€Â
