I'm a rarity. I saw the original The Office (or the UK Office as we say here). It was always talked about on the 'soccer' forums I went on so I got to see a few episodes from DVDs Brit friends had. I actually like the American version and watch it religiously. No accounting for taste perhaps but its a subjective thing. If most people agree or disagree on any thing that is subjective, it doesn't make it fact. ;)

I do think the UK version was better but I don't think the American version is bad.

I like Carrell and I love Will Farrell. I was never a big fan of Carey.

To show you just how out there I am, I never got or liked Monty Python. Sacralege, I know but I recall being bored senseless anytime that or Dr. Who was on. Okay, please throw fresh fruit and veggies. :nahnah:

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/us_alabama_governor_christians

Not to long into his gubernatorial career the new Alabama governor said that if you have not accepted Jesus as your Lord and savior you are not his brother or sister.

Obviously a stupid, asanine thing to say. However, before you all start going on about the evils of religion and Christianity, I want to say that whenever you hear things lik this, its not Christianity that is to blame.

Its HOW its practiced and guys like this do not reflect what the bible says. In fact, he is in complete violation of what the bible preaches. It says to LOVE everyone as your brother. Guys like this practice what I call a Christian elitism. Its the I'm better than you because I have Jesus mentalliy. The fact is Jesus said the complete opposite. He said to humble yourself, ESPECIALLY to non Christians.

Okay, the sermon from the chruch of the depraved and LOS loving Chocolat Steve is now over.

Burglars snort man's ashes, thought it was cocaine

(Reuters) - Burglars snorted the cremated remains of a man and two dogs in the mistaken belief that they had stolen illegal drugs, Florida sheriff's deputies said on Wednesday.

The ashes were taken from a woman's home in the central Florida town of Silver Springs Shores on December 15. The thieves took an urn containing the ashes of her father and another container with the ashes of her two Great Danes, along with electronic equipment and jewelry, the Marion County Sheriff's Office said.

Investigators learned what happened to the ashes after they arrested five teens in connection with another burglary attempt at a nearby home last week.

"The suspects mistook the ashes for either cocaine or heroin. It was soon discovered that the suspects snorted some of the ashes believing they were snorting cocaine," the sheriff's report said.

Once they realized their error, the suspects discussed returning the remaining ashes but threw them in a lake instead because they thought their fingerprints were on the containers, sheriff's spokesman Judge Cochran said.

Police divers were trying to recover the ashes. The suspects were jailed on numerous burglary and other charges.

I started watching Monty Python in grade school. Chicago PBS showed it on Sunday night at 11pm. I'd wait till my parents went to sleep and then tape it. After 'the lumberjack song' I was hooked.

Never did get Dr. Who though. zzzzzzzzzzzz. Snoozefest. I tried to watch the new Robin Hood series on BBC (not that new anymore), but it was too Disneyfied.

Unhappy Hubert.

A New York college student who claims a Las Vegas hooker did not spend enough time making him happy has sued her escort service for $1.8 million.

Unhappy customer Hubert Blackman said he was traumatized by the "tragic event," especially when he called cops and they threatened to bust him, the Las Vegas Sun reported Thursday.

"I also would like to get my $275 payment back and a $1.8 million verdict for the tragic event that happened," Blackman said in the suit filed in Manhattan Federal Court, the paper said.

Blackman was staying at the Stratosphere on Dec. 17 when he called Las Vegas Exclusive Personals to hire a stripper.

Blackman said the woman performed a lap dance for $155 and a sex act for another $120.

Instead of staying for the agreed-upon one hour, she left after just 30 minutes.

The hapless tourist called to demand some of his money back.

Then he called cops, who told him he could face arrest because prostitution is illegal in Sin City.

Blackman told the newspaper the stripper solicited the sex act and he was unaware prostitution was illegal in Vegas.

Parents Television Council Calls for Federal Investigation Into MTV's Skins

One day after it was reported Viacom executives ordered producers to tone down its racy teen drama, the Parents Television Council has announced it's urging the Department of Justice and U.S. Senate and House Judiciary Committees to open an investigation.

"In addition to the sexual content on the show involving cast members as young as 15, PTC counted 42 depictions and references to drugs and alcohol in the premiere episode," the group wrote in a letter to the government organizations.

[color:red]"It is clear that Viacom has knowingly produced material that may well be in violation of [several anti-child pornography laws]," added the PTC, which earlier called the show "the most dangerous program ever for children."[/color]

The group is also urging a boycott of Taco Bell, one of the show's sponsors.

The New York Times reported that a number of executives met on Tuesday over concerns the show could violate pornography laws.

While MTV did not confirm that, a rep for the network said, "Skins is a show that addresses real-world issues confronting teens in a frank way. We review all of our shows and work with all of our producers on an ongoing basis to ensure our shows comply with laws and community standards. We are confident that the episodes of ‘Skins’ will not only comply with all applicable legal requirements, but also with our responsibilities to our viewers.†:rotl:

Wonder what a Chinese mother would think.

So Keith Olberman and MSNBC part ways! I know he was hated by the right as essentially being exactly what the left accuses Rush and others of being, and that is completely partisan. Maybe he was (in fact he definitely was) but I found him entertaining and honest. I actually thought he believed in what he was spouting.
