Looks pretty much like where I grew up.

But anyway, that has nothing to do with illegal Mexicans, and everything to do with the sellout of US manufacturing by the GOP. There ain't no illegal Mexicans working for the UAW cuz unions police that shit...but WalMart, and gummint-subsidized farms, and meat packing plants? You betcha .

Try to keep up Grandpa!

Nah...the wholesale introduction of socialist welfare programs started it all. Lazy folks found it more "comfortable" to go on the dole than to work in factories and fields. They could get more for doing nothing but going to the mail box to collect their "pay". Too, you seem to ignore the role of the SEIU and other unions in securing higher and higher wages for the wets. Unions welcome the illegals with open arms. When socialism made it nearly impossible to get many to work, businesses had no choice but to employ illegals and decades of Government indifference made it quite easy.

Fine theory, except welfare ended in 1996.

As I said, I know it's tuff, but try to keep up here Grandpa! :neener:

If business in the US would pay prevailing wages, then they could get Americans to work there. But for $5/hr? No. And any biz that predicates it's existence on labour costs at that rate needs to have a rethink and frankly get eaten up by the capitalist machine because it is uncompetitive in the real world.

Ended in 1996? 5555555555555555 Yeah, right. :rotl: Great punchline, LK. But I've read better from you.

From just a week ago: http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2011/01/19/welfare-tab-children-illegal-immigrants-estimated-m-la-county/

So no more government housing? No more subsidized utilities? No more food stamps? No more free breakfasts/lunches at schools? No more free milk? No more SSI? No more free medical treatment? There must be 100's of welfare/entitlement programs prized by the poor, disadvantaged, never employed, lazy, parasites that rely on guys like you taking away other people's wages to provide them with WELFARE. It's painfully obvious that since you left the country, you've lost touch with a lot of stuff. :neener:

C'mon you two play nice! I respect both of you guys opinions, lets debate in good spirit. Tough as most of our topics get us emotionally to some extent.

Just from what I can tell the illegal immigration issue remains a problem because to enforce the border will cost that person and their party politically. I don't see it being anything else.

A lot of things in this country comes down to getting or staying elected.

Just to put a smile on your faces, I literally laughed till I cried when a very good Mexican-American friend of mine said to a black coworker of mine who complained about the issue at a happy hour once '...shit, ain't all you black guys here illegally too?" LMAO...I still laugh when I think about it.

So you ready to give up the SSI, Medicare & CALPERS pension HH? I didn't think so.

It certainly depends upon what you call welfare. Most normal folks agree with me. You are special. Did you ride the short bus to school?

I could care less if all that stuff was not in place. In fact, if it weren't, maybe my taxes and health insurance premiums might be lower. :content:

As for the "short bus", we didn't have them in my day. We had to walk through snow for miles and brave Indian attacks to get to the school house. It's only been in the last decades that "special needs" kids like yourself got picked up at your doorsteps and delivered to school all safely and compfy ready to learn that you can really tie your shoes without Uncle Sam's help if you practice enough. (You figured out how to untie them without Government assistance yet?)

Stev-o-rino...not to worry. LK and I agreed years ago not to take stuff personally here no matter how much we punch and counter-punch. (In fact, we typically have at least a beer or few together if both of us are in BKK at the same time when I visit the LOS.) So nobody gets hurt. LK's famous ego prevents him from getting even bruised. It's known that I umpired pro baseball for a number of years. Not a job for the faint of heart and I've been called everything you can think of. So, LK's "short bus" stuff registers about -9.5 on the insult scale . :content:

No worries. We are actually good friends in real life. We both like to ride the other hard in political debate tho'. Nothing personal. Just entertainment. We each know that, even if it doesn't look like it from the outside looking in.

5555555555555 You posted this while I was composing my reply. Just saw it now.:up:

Ok' date=' so we want to take away the citizenship of illegal's "anchor babies..." O.k. Now what about women who come here on tourist's visas for the specific purpose of having their babies born here in the USA?

Example, there is a birth center in San Francisco, forget the name and can't be bothered to look it up, which is pretty much in the business of taking in women on tourist's visas who are ready to give birth. The sole purpose of these women is to have their kids exercise their "birth right" and petition the family to immigrate to the USA, jumping the normal wait time.

Technically, these women are in the country legally, but they are here to scam the system, what should be done with these women? To me, any kid born here is an American, but they should have to be 18 before they can exercise any rights to petition their family. If it is proven the family entered illegally, then those doing so should be barred from entering for a set period, which I believe is currently 10 years? HH you know?

As much as I am against illegals, I get nervous when people want to dick with the Constitution...[/quote']

At the end of the day we're saying that people who are American are no longer American. If you can remove citizenship, its a slippery slope. Also, its unconstitutional. Not the first time states have stepped on that piece of paper.

We're blaming the wrong people. We're blaming an AMERICAN baby for having an illegal parent. I think we're better served blamng the federal government for not doing its job.

Also, we're kidding ourselves if the European immigrants a century or so ago would't have streamed across the border i they were as close as the latinos. We place them upon a pedestal but they came for the same exact reasons a lot of latinos did. They were told by many people to go back to their countries as well and to improve the condition in Ireland, Sweden, Russia, Germany, etc. as well.

I get just as pissed off as any one else but this is NOT the way to address it.

No, AT the end of the day, we are in agreement, don't dick with the constitution. My "plan" is maybe the best of a bad situation. That is, the kid has every right to be here, but he cannot petition the parents to come here until he is 18. So either the kid stays here with family or friends (who are legally here) or the kid returns to native country and returns at 18 to claim his right. Same with the tourist visa babies.

I agree with LK, punish the shit out of those who hire illegals. But I do believe we also need to do something to tighten up the borders to keep the drugs, criminal element and others illegally entering, out.
