LK, your concept of what is "proper" is certainly different than mine. However, if your real desire is to return home, take your pick of these fine Detroit homes awaiting your TLC :content:

Looks pretty much like where I grew up.

A palace compared to what I had...there were 17 of us living in a ditch in the middle of the road, and we were lucky to have it...

Ended in 1996? 5555555555555555 Yeah, right. :rotl: Great punchline, LK. But I've read better from you.

From just a week ago: http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2011/01/19/welfare-tab-children-illegal-immigrants-estimated-m-la-county/

So no more government housing? No more subsidized utilities? No more food stamps? No more free breakfasts/lunches at schools? No more free milk? No more SSI? No more free medical treatment? There must be 100's of welfare/entitlement programs prized by the poor, disadvantaged, never employed, lazy, parasites that rely on guys like you taking away other people's wages to provide them with WELFARE. It's painfully obvious that since you left the country, you've lost touch with a lot of stuff. :neener:

I guess, that's why Germany is doing so bad with just 3,3% ;) grows, the lowest unemployment rate since the unification, with health care, unemployment insurance, labour unions, e.g.

Nah...the wholesale introduction of socialist welfare programs started it all. Lazy folks found it more "comfortable" to go on the dole than to work in factories and fields. They could get more for doing nothing but going to the mail box to collect their "pay". Too, you seem to ignore the role of the SEIU and other unions in securing higher and higher wages for the wets. Unions welcome the illegals with open arms. When socialism made it nearly impossible to get many to work, businesses had no choice but to employ illegals and decades of Government indifference made it quite easy.

You mean like California's prop 13, which kept property taxes lower for millions of residents (like yourself)and is a major contributor toward's California's economic state today. I guess some people wouldn't consider that welfare.

Winston Churchill said just that, until you consider the alternatives to democracy. I just hate to listen to people whine about U.S. government, until you point out in what instances they are benefiting from that government. And make no mistake about it; the passage of prop 13 (under California laws) gives a big benefit to millions of California house owners. But, according to them, everyone else is stealing from the government. Certainly, there needs to be fundamental changes to the way federal, state and local governments operate. But there also has to be a change to the mentality of the "me" generation, which says I've got mine and screw everyone else.

What's wrong with Prop 13? It's the greatest benefit ever bestowed on homeowners. It took "the people" and not politicians to get it enacted. Without it, millions would have lost their homes to Demoncrap politicians who never saw a tax they don't like to raise or initiate. Just so as not to confuse others, it has been several decades of Demoncrat legislative bodies, illegal immigration, and a stupid voting populace that are responsible for the financial mess the State of CA is in. The Demoncrat legislature votes for more spending than it has in income, the wetbacks bring far LESS to the table than they consume, and the voting populace is overwhelmingly Demoncrap. You can't blame Prop 13 for the problems. Other states which do not have it also have severe financial problems...and most of those states are "blue states".
