Gee' date=' HH, ya think that maybe, just maybe, healthcare costs factor into it? That maybe auto manufacturers are happy to have Canada's "commie fucktard socialist" healthcare plan so much that they would move assembly jobs just across the river to Windsor? Ya think??

Tighten the latches on your bunker, and chew on that big boy![/quote']

Not taking sides against you, chap, but you would not know it from the BMW and Merk and Honda plants in the Southern US..... All less than 20 years old. And the BMW place in SC just announced plans to double in size. Which shoots your assumption all to hell.

[color:red]In the South, foreign auto plants are all non-union. So they don't have to provide UAW benefits, including their health insurance plans.

WRT the Canadian trade agreement, that is old news. What is not old news is how quickly medical costs have risen at US based UAW plants, and how it is still at zero in Canadian UAW plants. Worth close to $20k per worker in cost savings. So while Detroit dies on the vine, factories in Windsor continue to not only do well, but expand

I'd say "back to you HH", but I have obviously offended his California pension-sucking chicken shit ass, and he has put me on ignore. Gee, i am soooo offended.

The foreign plants on US soil also make profits which get shuffled back to the homeland, not the USA.

Cat ordered to do jury service

A cat has been summoned to do jury service, even after his owners told the court he was "unable to speak and understand English".

Anna Esposito, wrote to Suffolk Superior Crown Court in Boston, USA, to explain that a mistake had been made, but a jury commissioner replied saying the cat, named Tabby Sal, "must attend" on March 23.

Mrs Esposito had included a letter from her vet confirming that the cat was "a domestic short-haired neutered feline".

Tabby Sal had been entered by Mrs Esposito under the 'pets' section of the last census. "When they ask him guilty or not guilty? What's he supposed to say - miaow?" She said.

"Sal is a member of the family, so I listed him on the last Census form under pets, but there has clearly been a mix-up."

A website for the US judicial system states that jurors are "not expected to speak perfect English".

Funny how you forget that.

Not quite....example:

The Honda engine is made in Japan and shipped to the USA for the cars. The "cost" of the engine is an expense that comes off the "profit" of the company. The Japan side heavily marks up the cost of the engine and thus, the USA gets a much reduced tax on the company's profits. This scam has been going on since day one.

Benefits? ask the employees of the now defunct GE-Fanuc company. Was 1/2 GE and 1/2 Fanuc (Japan). After 20 years they got thrown out on the street. Severence, yeah right a real turd-bird parachute!!

How many unions are in these foreign plants, like NONE! Is Saturn still around?

The next one (post) is better...

She should just ignore the summons, and let the cops come after the cat...

Mandatory Arabic Classes Coming To Mansfield

MANSFIELD, TEXAS (CBSDFW.COM) – Some Students at Mansfield ISD schools could soon be learning Arabic as a required language. The school district wants students at select schools to take Arabic language and culture classes as part of a federally funded grant.

The Foreign Language Assistance Program (FLAP) grant was awarded to Mansfield ISD last summer by the U.S. Department of Education.

[color:red]As part of the five-year $1.3 million grant, Arabic classes would be mandatory at Cross Timbers Intermediate School and Kenneth Davis Elementary School. The program would also be optional for students at T. A. Howard Middle School and Summit High School.

Parents at Cross Timbers say they were caught off-guard by the program, and were surprised the district only told them about it in a meeting Monday night between parents and Mansfield ISD Superintendent Bob Morrison.

[color:red]The DOE has identified Arabic as a ‘language of the future.’ :surprised: But parent Joseph Balson was frustrated by the past. “Why are we just now finding out about it?†asked Balson. “It’s them (Mansfield ISD) applying for the grant, getting it approved and them now saying they’ll go back and change it only when they were caught trying to implement this plan without parents knowing about it.â€Â

Trisha Savage thinks it will offer a [color:red]well-rounded education. “I think its a great opportunity that will open doors. We need to think globally and act locally.â€Â

Mansfield ISD says in addition to language, the grant provides culture, government, art, traditions and history as part of the curriculum.

Some parents had concerns over religion. “The school doesn’t teach Christianity, so I don’t want them teaching Islam,†said parent Baron Kane. During Monday’s meeting Morrison stressed the curriculum would not be about religion, but about Arabic language and culture, similar to the Spanish curriculum already in place in the district.

Kheirieh Hannun was born in the Middle East but raised in the U.S. She believes giving students the option to learn Arabic will give her son and others like him the option to learn more about their culture. “It was surprising, but I think it’s okay, and it will help come down on the stereotype.†Hannun says she is hopeful the class could broaden the minds of not only students, but also parents.

The FLAP grant was awarded to only five school districts across the country, including Mansfield.

Since when is any language other than English MANDATORY in US schools?
