Usa Thread

The Detroit motor companies decades ago supported the destruction of urban rail lines in the USA. Most cities complied. The electric mass transportation systems were ripped out and petrol-powered buses bought from Detroit to take their place. Time to rebuild the rail lines?

Neighborhood groups and businesses that it would run near or through would fight it tooth and nail. NIMBY would make it nigh on impossible.

Plus in the USA, railroads are too gay.

I wish you wingnutz would just be honest about the real reason they are obsessed with this subject. As Lee Atwater said: [color:purple]You start out in 1954 by saying, "Nigger, nigger, nigger." By 1968 you can't say "nigger" — that hurts you. Backfires. So you say stuff like forced busing, states' rights and all that stuff. You're getting so abstract now [that] you're talking about cutting taxes, and all these things you're talking about are totally economic things and a byproduct of them is [that] blacks get hurt worse than whites. And subconsciously maybe that is part of it. I'm not saying that. But I'm saying that if it is getting that abstract, and that coded, that we are doing away with the racial problem one way or the other. You follow me — because obviously sitting around saying, "We want to cut this," is much more abstract than even the busing thing, and a hell of a lot more abstract than "Nigger, nigger."[/color]

I would at least respect you for telling the truth. Not for anything else, mind you. But at least for having the balls to say what they mean.

Right. I thought I was the only one who had that conclusion.

For some entertainment:

On Feb. 11, an investigator with the Department of Homeland Security, which oversees cybersecurity enforcement, signed in to a peer-to-peer file sharing program from his office. After connecting with someone by the name of "Doldrum," the agent browsed through his shared files for videos and images and found images and videos depicting children engaged in sexual acts.

The agent identified the IP address, or unique identification number, of the router, then got the service provider to identify the subscriber.

Investigators could have taken an extra step before going inside the house and used a laptop or other device outside the home to see whether there was an unsecured signal. That alone wouldn't have exonerated the homeowner, but it would have raised the possibility that someone else was responsible for the downloads.

After a search of his devices proved the homeowner's innocence, investigators went back to the peer-to-peer software and looked at logs that showed what other IP addresses Doldrum had connected from. Two were associated with the State University of New York at Buffalo and accessed using a secure token that UB said was assigned to a student living in an apartment adjacent to the homeowner. Agents arrested John Luchetti March 17. He has pleaded not guilty to distribution of child pornography.

Ah, LK, good to see you back in form...twisting things for a bit of "shock". As my hero Newt has recently pointed out, Trump has the wealth to send 214 private detectives around the world to try to resolve the question the "birthers" pose. As Newt said, up to Trump. It's his money.

On the other hand, again, as Newt pointed out, the country has a lot more to consider at this point than where Barry was born and his citizenship. The country is a mess and almost 2 1/2 years of Obama has done nothing...absolutely nada...to improve things. In fact, he's made it worsde...waaaaay worse. If you consider tripling deficit spending a good thing, ask your offspring how it will feel to have to start paying off that debt after they've spent years in school and, presumably, begin to pay federal taxes. If the youth of America knew/realized what Obama is doing to them, he'd not get one vote/centavo from any "thinking" college student. He'd get the boot from every campus he visits. 2012 can't get here fast enough !

Nah, you just don't get it! If you are not a flaming pinko leftie, you must be a neo-Nazi, foaming at the mouth, racist, skinhead Klansman. That's it. There are no other options. Life is so much simpler if you will just accept that.

Otherwise, they will kick down your door some night and drag you off to the Gulag where people like you belong! We will deal with you, Winston Smith. :onfire:

Considering that since the stimulus took effect, the stock market has went from 7000 to 12000+ and we've added 4x more jobs to the rolls than Bush did in 8 freakin' years, I can see your point.

If i were an idiot.

But I'm not. So that only leaves one of us as the idiot, Mr Atwater...

Atwater has been dead for 20 years. Can't you do better than that?

Well, in just the 5 months since Barry refused to significantly cut HIS deficit in December's budget negotiations, my Golden Eagles have been on a projected 20% return this year. Unemployment actually increased under Obama and is holding at 9%+ to over 20%, depending on the part of the country. Health insurance rates have increased while deductibles/co-pays have also increased. Gasoline prices have doubled in Barry's looooooong tenure; food prices have steadily climbed, and very serious inflation is just around the corner in time for 2012 !

I'd love to see Newt debate Obama in 2012. Newt would eat his lunch. Not only is Newt smarter, he's more articulate without a teleprompter and much more knowledgeable about things that are important to getting my country back in the right direction. Obama has been a fucking disaster. Worse than Carter. Sure, the country is facing more serious challenges than Carter had to deal with or it would probably be a toss-up between them as to the worse President the country has EVER had.

Oh...and since you like cartoons, here's one for ya. :content: (Make sure you read his teleprompter. Barry doesn't know what to do or say without it.)
