Clinton did not engineer nor was he responsible for the '90s economy fueled by the tech boom. He did the smart thing though and got the hell out of the way. Reagan's famous tax cut didn't fuel the '80s either. Then fed chief Volcker was responsible for setting the chain of events that led to the boom.

I think Bill would do a decent job now actually. He's smart as a whip intellectually and would care less about the powers that be. He's already paid.

But some sayu he is a commie.

As much as some hate commies, the country goes to a commie nation for a fix every time she needs money.

figure it out.

So the right wing,

anti-tax,

anti social security,

anti public healthcare,

anti public education,

anti consumer protection,

anti minorities,

anti public funded infrastructure investments

pro financial businesses,

pro oligarchs and multinational companies

pro super rich,

pro military

pro privatization of social security and public health care

Tea Party reached it's goals almost completely.

My prediction, the USA will enter a phase of a deep recession, because public spending into education, infrastructure, heath care, e.g. will go down considerably. As a result hundreds of thousands of jobs will be lost in the public as well as in the private sectors. In the upcoming years the lower and middle class will have to chose between health care, education for their kinds and consumption, but won't be able to spend money all all three essentials for all people and the country (bad education will have severe impact on key industries for example).

And it will probably have a negative effect on the whole world, but especially on the Western industrialized countries (including Japan).

The only question is: How long will with the right wing noise machine be able to sell the downfall of the USA as an essentially positive development to its people. And how will the people react when they wake up much poorer in one-two years.

Typical "lefty" generalizations which typically ignores that the US became a world power and one of the most influential nations on the planet in less than 200 years of existence WITHOUT socialist bullshit.

FYI, the social, economic, and educational problems did not begin in the USA until the left became popular. For instance, the concept of "social promotion" in schools. Oh, heavens, Johnny will feel bad if he doesn't get to be promoted to 4th grade when 98% of his classmates are. So promote Johnny for "social" reasons, never mind that he can't add, subtract or read at his grade level. Can't find work in your neighborhood? Socialists say, never mind. Sit at home on your ass. We'll take money from your neighbors to pay your utilities, rent/mortgage payments, food, etc. The result is a bunch of people (millions and millions) who become dependent on the socialists taking money from others and giving it to them for the mere reason that they can fog a mirror. Really instills a work ethic, huh? And really makes others want to improve themselves when they know the socialists will take away what others have worked for. Socialism binds and enslaves. Socialism, generally, is evil.

But tax havens, defence spending and Wall Street bail outs are fine.

Tax havens are good to keep social shit hooks off your earned $. ;)

Defense spending gave the US it's freedom more than once, beginning in 1776 5555555 And more than one country has benefited from US defense spending over the decades, no?

Wall Street bailouts? I'm not sure that those were a plank in conservative platforms. In fact, I don't think the Tea Party would approve at all. If so, I'd be surprised (though not the first time).

If the tax dodgers kept their money in the country perhaps the government wouldn't have to borrow so much?

Defence spending? Sure every country needs to defend itself but don't you think it's gone a little far? It basically looks like government spending to keep people employed.

The Wall Street bailouts protected the stock market and the 401Ks.

It all looks like the US version of socialism to me.

I'm done with this board BTW. Tired of logging in and out. I'm sure I will be greatly missed.

HH, you should seriously study some history.

The 'Wild' West was 'won' by the implementing of 'socialist' programs but then.... you probably never realized that.

Yep...the government could just steal it instead of borrowing.

Defence spending? Sure every country needs to defend itself but don't you think it's gone a little far? It basically looks like government spending to keep people employed.

Yep...gone too far in some cases. "Looks" aren't always what they seem.

The Wall Street bailouts protected the stock market and the 401Ks.

Not good precedent, IMO.

Maybe wishful thinking on your part, CW. But quite a stretch.
