Barack Obama's uncle has been arrested and held as illegal immigrant

BARACK Obama's long-lost "Uncle Omar" has been arrested for alleged drunk-driving outside Boston and detained as an illegal immigrant, The Times can reveal.

The arrest ends a mystery over the fate of a relative that the US President wrote in his memoir had moved to America from Kenya in the 1960s, although the circumstances of his discovery may now prove to be an embarrassment for the White House.

Official records say Onyango Obama, 67, was picked up outside the Chicken Bone Saloon in Framingham, Massachusetts, at 7.10pm on August 24. Police say he nearly crashed his Mitsubishi 4x4 into a patrol car, and then insisted that the officer should have given way to him. A report filed with the Framingham District Court said that a breathalyser at the police station registered his blood alcohol at 0.14mg/100ml of blood, above the state limit of 0.08mg.

According to a local newspaper, Mr Obama was charged with driving under the influence and driving to endanger, as well as failing to use a turn signal. He was detained as an illegal immigrant because the US Bureau of Immigration and Customs Enforcement has an outstanding warrant for him because he was previously ordered to be deported to Kenya.

The Times has established from his birthdate that Mr Obama is the Uncle Omar mentioned in President Obama's best-selling memoir Dreams from My Father. In the 1995 book, President Obama writes of "the uncle who had left for America 25 years ago and had never come back".

In 2008, The Times mounted a search for Uncle Omar. Instead of finding him, we discovered his sister, President Obama's Aunt Zeituni, who was living as an illegal immigrant on a Boston housing estate. Uncle Omar and Auntie Zeituni are the children of President Obama's grandfather Hussein Onyango Obama by his third wife, Sarah, the woman President Obama calls "Granny", because she raised his father, Barack Sr, who was Hussein Obama's son by Hussein's second wife, Akumu.

The 2008 investigation unearthed public records naming an O. Onyango Obama, born on June 3, 1944, living at a house in the Boston suburbs, where he was known as Obama Onyango. Framingham police records list the man arrested last week as Onyango Obama, with the same birth date, June 3, 1944.

According to local reports, Officer Val Krishtal and another driver had to slam on their brakes to avoid hitting Mr Obama's car, which rolled through a stop sign and took a quick left turn. Mr Obama allegedly told the officer he had right of way and said he doubted the officer was forced to brake hard as he did not hear his brakes squeal.

Mr Obama pleaded not guilty at his remand hearing, but was held in custody because of the immigration warrant. He now faces a legal battle. His sister Zeituni eventually won the right to live in America despite an earlier deportation order. Margaret Wong, the Cleveland lawyer who successfully represented Zeituni, confirmed through a representative last night that she has also been retained to defend Mr Obama.

"Before he went to America, we all knew him as Omar. But he dropped that bit, changing it to Obama Onyango, because he said he preferred his African name," said Nelson Ochieng, a cousin in the Kenyan city of Kisumu.

Mr Obama's landlady in Boston went to court to evict him in 2000 for non-payment of his $500-a-month rent. He was also a partner in a convenience store that was set up in 1992, and was attacked in a robbery at the shop in 1994 by two men armed with a sawn-off rifle.

Always had the highest respect for Powell and if there was any person with integrity it was him. Only a few others have the same integrity as candidates. Paul has it, whether you agree with his politics or not, Huntsman seems to as well. Not sure about the rest. I thought Obama had it but he's sold out to the establishment. Maybe its not possible to be President and not be beholden. I'd like to think its possible. Compromising is part of the job but selling out is another.

Interesting thing about Powell was that he was identified as a candidate to become an officer via affirmative actio and moved up in the military with the help of Republicans, hence his party affiliation and his support for AA. I agreed with his assessment of Palin. Although I was soured on the Republican party by that time, McCain's selection removed any chance of me supporting him. She was (and I think still is but not nearly as much) woefully unqualified and to some extent her selection endangered us I believe. She seemed that bad to me. I could't fathom her governing as she was back then. I think it was irresponsible of McCain.

Bush had negatives as well in 2004 so its possible to win with negs. It will come down to a few states as it always does. Assuming Romney is the nominee, it will come down to which one of them wins Florida, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Michigan. A couple other pivotal ones but those and especially Ohio and Florida. Obama's low ratings mean squat if he can win both. I think he'll lose Florida this time around. Jewish support won't be there I think. Latino support may but its a tough state for a Dem to win. Ohio is his key. He has to win there. Romney would be smart to focus on Ohio and either Penna. or Mich. I think.

You're right...polls regarding overall popularity/approval don't mean squat. Only the electoral votes mean anything. Three things will mean defeat for Barry in 2012:

1. He will not get the independent voters he got last time. He's lost the independent vote, according to the latest polls...and BIG TIME.

2. The "excitement" factor of having a new, charismatic candidate will be absent with Obama. (He's old news now.) He will not get the independent voters; the black and latino voters who came out to support a black candidate will not come out in the numbers as before. I'm hopeful that Maxine Waters is not representative of the Black Caucus, but her tirades have shown disapproval of Obama that stunned me. (Not to make a pun, but she's gotta be a "black widow"...turning on a fellow liberal in office like she has.)

3. Conservatives...and not just the Tea Party...are energized to get this guy out of office. They WILL come out of the woodwork...activists and the "silent majority". And they will be joined by conservative (and maybe some moderate) Democrats who realize Obama isn't the answer and that he's bad (very bad) for the U.S.

All the presidents, since Kennedy, have been puppets of Wall Street, the banks and bog Corps.

Obama did NOTHING will in office in Illinois so why expect he would do something as Prez?

If the Repubs or Dems get "their" person into the WH, it will be same-o, same-o. With the big Corps, banks, WS running the WH, the Prez is just sacrificed to promote the agendas of these evil bastards!

It will take HUGE shake up in the WH, Senate and Congress to get the USA on the REAL road to recovery...fingers crossed...

Thought you'd stopped posting. Isn't the internet one of those giant government projects, socially funded, using our taxes, that you abhor?

So, let's see... you're keeping your government pension/social security/healthcare, probably driving on roads paid for with taxes, using your government paid for education to read and write, using the 'net, eating safe food, drinking clean water, flushing your shit down the toilet to go to some govt processing facility, etc. etc. Seems gov/taxes/socialistic policies are OK... as long as they benefit Hugh Hypocritical (HH).

One in four Democrats wants to dump Obama

A new poll by CNN and ORC International finds that 27 percent of Democrats would like to see their party nominate a candidate other than Barack Obama for president in 2012.

In response to the question, "Do you think the Democratic party should renominate Barack Obama as the party's candidate for president in 2012, or do you think the Democratic party should nominate a different candidate for president in 2012?" - 72 percent said they wanted to see Obama renominated. But 27 percent, slightly more than one in every four, said they wanted to see Democrats nominate a different candidate. One percent had no opinion.

The poll was taken August 24-25. In a survey taken in early August, 28 percent of Democrats said they wanted a different candidate. Polls taken in July and before showed Obama in a stronger position, with no more than 22 percent saying they preferred a different candidate. The current poll is based on interviews with 463 Democrats and has a margin of error of 4.5 percent.

The new poll is another indication of Democratic unhappiness with the president, but it does not mean Obama will face a challenge in his party's primaries. Despite the complaints of a few liberals like Sen. Bernard Sanders, the odds of a Democrat opposing the president appear to be something less than zero. But the new poll is still a matter of concern to Democrats, because it is yet another indication that there is significant disillusionment with the president within his own party. Whether those disaffected Democrats will come around to supporting Obama next year is an open question - and perhaps the most worrying of the president's re-election bid.
