VP Pence hired a private attorney to represent Pence.

NOW . . . wait for it . . . the private attorney that represent Pence has also hired an attorney to represent himself (the attorney)

Yes, it gets complicated. But the attorney has hired an attorney for himself.

Donald Trump in free fall after only five months in office - OPINION: With the exception of rolling back some regulations and putting a respected conservative jurist on the Supreme Court, President Trump has had a disastrous first five months.

Job increases have slowed, his health-care bill is widely disliked and tax reform seems impossible in the short-run.

His withdrawal from the Paris climate agreement has been panned domestically and internationally, and his administration is beset by scandal.

Two of his most important executive orders (on so-called sanctuary cities and the travel ban) have been stopped in the courts, others (a directive to build the wall) are meaningless and still others are hopelessly vague.

Lacking scores of political appointees, he has little ability to see that his policy initiatives are implemented. - Link

President Trump hits new low for approval rating in CBS News poll - President Trump has hit another new personal low in another approval poll — this one showing that only 36% of Americans support his performance so far.

The new poll put out by CBS News Tuesday morning shows Trump with the lowest approval in that survey since he took office. His disapproval rating, meanwhile, has jumped to 57%.

Trump’s handling of the investigations into Russia’s interference in the 2016 election has taken a bigger hit on his poll numbers than any other issue from his first 150 days.

The poll of 1,117 respondents showed 63% disapproving of how he is responding to the probes, while only 28% approving. More than one-third of the respondents said Trump’s treatment of the investigation lowered their opinion of him. - Link

Trump just sent a mystifying, disturbing tweet about North Korea - Maybe the president shouldn’t tweet vaguely threatening things about a nuclear power.

Here’s a real thing the president of the United States tweeted on Tuesday afternoon. It is about North Korea — and it is very, very hard to figure out what it means:

" Donald J. Trump ✔@realDonaldTrump

While I greatly appreciate the efforts of President Xi & China to help with North Korea, it has not worked out. At least I know China tried! "

You can sort of try to piece together what Trump might have meant.

It seems like he’s declaring failure in some kind of campaign by China to help the United States bring North Korea in line on issues of mutual concern, like the nuclear program and Otto Warmbier (the American who died this week shortly after being released from a North Korean prison camp).

Trump, who used to blame China for North Korean misbehavior but changed his mind after a 10-minute chat with Chinese President Xi Jinping in April, seems to be exonerating his new buddies in Beijing from any culpability in Warmbier’s death or North Korean ongoing missile tests. - Link - Nuther Link

He's also getting flack over the Panama Canal, whilst he didn't actually claim credit for it, he did say that "we did a great job building that" and the Panamanian President said, "yeah, 100 years ago".

Trump Says He Doesn't Have Tapes of Conversations With Comey

President Donald Trump said he doesn’t have recordings of his conversations with then-FBI Director James Comey, capping weeks of speculation -- started by the president himself -- about whether such tapes exist.

“With all of the recently reported electronic surveillance, intercepts, unmasking and illegal leaking of information, I have no idea whether there are ‘tapes’ or recordings of my conversations with James Comey,†Trump said Thursday in a pair of statements on Twitter, “but I did not make, and do not have, any such recordings.â€.....

Newt Gingrich claims Trump lied about tapes of White House conversations to scare James Comey

Former Speaker of the House and longtime Donald Trump confidant Newt Gingrich has claimed the President lied about having tapes of his conversations with James Comey in order to intimidate the former FBI Director.

"I think [Mr Trump] was in his way instinctively trying to rattle Comey," Mr Gingrich told the Associated Press.

"He's not a professional politician. He doesn't come back and think about Nixon and Watergate. His instinct is: 'I'll outbluff you'."Mr Trump first appeared to threaten Mr Comey with recordings of their White House conversations in a tweet last month.

Dogged by Russia investigation, Trump tweets turn increasingly defensive

WASHINGTON – Banged by a barrage of news about all those Russia probes, President Trump is turning his Twitter feed into his primary defense tool.

"Former Homeland Security Advisor Jeh Johnson is latest top intelligence official to state there was no grand scheme between Trump & Russia," the president tweeted Thursday, the latest in a series of posts about the ongoing investigations by Congress and a special counsel.

The investigations are probing possible links between Trump campaign associates and Russians who sought to influence last year's election by hacking Democrats close to Trump opponent Hillary Clinton.

While no public official in a position to know has pointed the finger directly at Trump himself, the president continues to return to the topic to defend himself.

Trump Is a Russian-Interference Truther Once More

On Twitter, the president claims vindication against claims of collusion and reverses his acknowledgement of Kremlin tampering with the election.

Trump's Self-Contradictory Defense

Spicer demurred: “I have not sat down and talked to him about that specific thing.†That answer was incredible, in both the literal and figurative senses. It was hard to believe that Spicer hadn’t discussed that topic with President Trump, and hard to believe that Trump would still be denying the now-universal view of intelligence agencies and lawmakers in both parties. In fact, Trump had acknowledged as much on January 11, at his first and only post-election press conference.

But in a series of tweets Thursday morning, Trump validated Spicer’s reluctance, indicating that he has changed his mind, no longer believes there was Russian interference, and sees the whole thing as a “a big Dem HOAX!â€

Since Trump has not explained, and since his communications staff cannot or will not speak to his position, it’s unclear when and why he changed his mind since the January 11. But his flip-flop once again puts the president at odds with his intelligence agencies as well as most Republicans in Congress, who have concluded that Russia did interfere with the election, although there is disagreement about the impact that interference had on the result of the election.

Trump ordered his top intelligence officials to refute russia story:

During separate meetings last week with Senate investigators and the team of Special Counsel Robert Mueller, President Donald Trump’s two top intelligence officials admitted that their commander-in-chief had asked them to publicly refute claims that his campaign had colluded with the Russian government.

Director of National Intelligence Dan Coats and National Security Agency Director Adm. Mike Rogers both said that they were uncomfortable by their conversations with Trump but did not feel they rose to the level of interference, according to a report by CNN. Multiple sources told the site that Coats and Rogers provided more details in private than they did in their public testimony on June 7. Specifically, they are reported to have told Mueller’s team that they were caught off-guard by Trump’s request that they publicly state he had not colluded with the Russian government.

Intel chiefs tell investigators Trump suggested they refute collusion with Russians

Two of the nation's top intelligence officials told Special Counsel Robert Mueller's team and Senate investigators, in separate meetings last week, that President Donald Trump suggested they say publicly there was no collusion between his campaign and the Russians, according to multiple sources.

Director of National Intelligence Dan Coats and National Security Agency Director Adm. Mike Rogers described their interactions with the President about the Russia investigation as odd and uncomfortable, but said they did not believe the President gave them orders to interfere, according to multiple sources familiar with their accounts.

Sources say both men went further than they did in June 7 public hearings, when they provided little detail about the interactions.
