Just as the left is more or less ignoring the fact that he was using a false identity and stolen papers.  How was the employer to know that?

Due diligence in hiring Espanics and not just look at either a Visa or Green Card and accept it as a fact.  But then, employer s tend to want to claim ignorance as a defense when they hire Espanics at far below the going rate.   That’s not the point that I was making.  As soon as the killer was revealed as an illegal alien (I guess that those papers didn’t fool the Police), the pro wall faction jumped on that as proof positive that all illegal aliens were potential criminals and possibility murders.  All I’m saying is that only those with clean hands should be taken seriously.

Members of her family has spoken out about how the murder was used by the right for a political agenda

I don't think its fair to say the left wants illegal unabated immigration. Its mainly what to do about them once they have been here for a certain length of time. And whether or not its worth the time and money spent to track them down as well as the moral ramifications of doing so (uprooting families). That is worthy of debate. Crime committed by said group isn't statistically one of the issues. As I repeated in an earlier post, you can make a stronger argument limiting the legal immigration of Russians and other nationalities if crime by immigrants is going to be on the table.

I lived in LA and saw illegal immigration up close and personal. One of the things that was almost a cliche is that if you get into an accident, you hope the person isn't undocumented because they are either going to leave the scene or possibly didn't have insurance. It was just a part of life there. They avoided being anywhere 'in the system'. That said, I've known  and met a few.

The country has a lot of issues. Scapegoating any group undeservedly isn't right. Undocumented aren't responsibly for the crime rate or have a net overall negative effect on employment (at near historic lows) or wages. Should they be here? No. ICE is fairly new and frankly has been co opted from what it was originally set up for. Just like a few things (RICO statues as another example).

Politicians have always misused and maligned the reputations of specific peoples historically in America in order to get votes going back decades if not a century or two. Jews, Blacks, Irish, all Catholics, eastern and southern Europeans, Gays, Feminists, the youth during the Vietnam era, corporations, unions, etc.

We obfuscate and deflect from addressing far more specific reasons for problems we have as a nation and the solutions we need to overcome it. Immigration is an issue but my question is, are we spending the too much time and resources on it when that time and effort can be better spent on far graver issues. I think the politicians are using it as a deflection to avoid topics and answers that aren't going to be popular.

US homeless man sues couple over $400,000 fundraiser money

A homeless man is suing a US couple who raised more than $400,000 (£307,000) to help him, alleging they used the funds as their own "piggy bank".

Johnny Bobbitt went viral last year when he gave his last $20 to Kate McClure when her car ran out of petrol.

Ms McClure and her boyfriend Mark D'Amico started an online fundraiser for him, which drew contributions from over 14,000 donors.

The legal action - alleging fraud and conspiracy - was filed on Tuesday.

Lawyers for the 35-year-old wrote in documents filed in Mount Holly - a New Jersey suburb of Philadelphia - that the couple had used the GoFundMe account they set up for Mr Bobbitt "to fund a lifestyle that they could not otherwise afford".

In recent interviews, Mr Bobbitt said Ms McClure, 28, and Mr D'Amico, 39, had recently paid for trips to Las Vegas and Florida, and a new BMW.

Mr D'Amico works as a carpenter and Ms McClure is a receptionist for the New Jersey Department of Transportation, according to local media.

A judge is set to hear the case on Thursday.

A representative for the civil court told the BBC the couple do not have an attorney listed on record.

Last week, Ms McClure told the Philadelphia Inquirer she felt frustrated and betrayed, and that she still wished to help Mr Bobbitt.

"I don't want to lose my job over this," she tearfully told the newspaper.

After wildly surpassing their original fundraising goal of $10,000, the couple had told their online supporters the money would go to two financial trusts for Mr Bobbitt, as well as a lawyer and a financial adviser to help him manage all the money.

They gave him clothing, allowed him to park his new camper outside their home, but reportedly later asked him to leave.

Mr Bobbitt says the couple sold his camper, gambled away some of his money, and have declined to provide him with any financial records.

The couple claims he once blew $25,000 on drugs in just 13 days.

"Every dollar he ever touched was used for drugs," Mr D'Amico told NBC in a nationally televised interview on Monday.

He added that he would be "absolutely" willing to allow an accountant to review financial statements to determine how the money was used, and what remains.

Mr Bobbitt, a US Marine veteran, is now back living on the streets with his younger brother.

In an interview with the Inquirer, he said begging for change to buy drugs was better than trying to get money from Mr D'Amico and Ms McClure.

Jacqueline Promislo, a lawyer for Mr Bobbitt, told the BBC she took the case pro bono to make sure he would be able to benefit from the charity of thousands of people "so he could not be homeless again".

Ms Promislo said her client estimates the couple did spend about $75,000 on his care.

During the NBC interview Mr D'Amico said about $150,000 remains.

Ms Promislo said her office hoped to avoid going to court.

"It's not the couple's money to decide where it goes," she said.

"Every single person I have heard from, that has emailed or called, is extremely upset and very much want Johnny Bobbitt to receive the money they gave to him."

A spokesman for GoFundMe says it "is looking into the claims of misuse".

"We will work to ensure that Johnny receives the help he deserves and that the donors' intentions are honoured," the spokesman added.

The administration has ramped up its fight against immigration both legal and other wise. Now its denying citizenship to actual Americans born on the border.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/the_americas/us-is-denying-passports-to-americans-along-the-border-throwing-their-citizenship-into-question/2018/08/29/1d630e84-a0da-11e8-a3dd-2a1991f075d5_story.html?noredirect=on&utm_term=.2a928eefbf02

This is the doing of Stephen Miller, very fringe right anti immigration (from certain countries) activist. One of the other things he advised the administration to do and they are doing is going back and reversing naturalized citizenship based on 'fraud' https://www.npr.org/2018/07/04/625980910/white-house-launches-effort-to-take-citizenship-from-those-who-lied-to-get-it

This is going to get ugly.

" NGAI: The last time the federal government tried to denaturalize citizens was during the McCarthy period."

No, it isn't. A number of naturalized east Europeans have been "denaturalized"in recent years after they were charged with having cooperating with the Nazi SS during WWII, even though they had committed no crimes themselves. Basically, it has been up to the individuals affected to prove that they weren't. Guilty until proven innocent.

It's also a veiled threat to any naturalized citizen that your citizenship can be taken away at any time. It really is Kafka.

Also, an increase in the number of vets being rejected for help in gaining citizenship. https://www.militarytimes.com/news/2018/07/05/more-veteran-requests-for-help-on-immigration-are-rejected-now-data-shows/

It's unfortunate about the veterans in Mexico, but they screwed up themselves. They should have sought citizenship when they could have. Instead, they stayed on green cards, and you lose a green card and are deported if you commit a felony. I have several Thai friends who used the US military as a pathway to citizenship. Both had studied in the US and enlisted for an easier path to citizenship. As members of the military, they got it with no trouble. But they had to actively go after it themselves. No one is going to do it for you. They both live in Thailand now, but they made sure their wives and children became US citizens too. One is a retired warrant officer now, with quite a nice pension by Thai standards. Plus he's got the military medical coverage for himself and family too.

I apologise for posting in a thread and for not posting  about Thailand or bizarro porn. There... that should keep my detractors happy.

Fortunately the the Tsunami of trouble for Trump, is building just off the beach and when it hits, all this nonsense will be over, and we'll be subject to years of O.J.Simpson-like coverage, of 'the Trumps go to Jail'...

As I've said before, whilst I am sure there are nice places to go in the USA, I'd have to be paid to travel there again, the simple process of getting through San Francisco Airport was rude and dehumanising enough, that I'm inclined to go anywhere else for Travel.
